Our second visit to this delightful cottage . Full of character and thoughtful attention to detail. Well located for range of activities only negative was the car parking area which was rough under foot and rather cramped due to daytime building works.

We have stayed at Brambles some years back and whilst the cottage retains its attraction the furnishings have been improved. The local pub, The Plough and Harrow has also been vastly improved since our previous visit.

Two main aspects : 1) The owners are very friendly and helpful. 2) The cottage is not suitable for elderly people, and this should be clearly stated in your description , e.g. the stairs are not just steep, but extremely steep. The access from the recommended parking is over grotesquely uneven cobbled area, slippery if wet. At the moment the area around the cottage is a building site, as a barn con version is going on immediately adjacent to the cottage. That mean that instead of rural tranquillity the visitors have the noise of heavy machinery all working day long. Why did you not tell us about this ?

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are surprised and disappointed at this review, and very sorry our guests did not have an enjoyable stay. We have had many elderly couples stay with us, some with minor mobility issues, and no one has ever mentioned that the stairs or cobbles are a problem. There is no need to walk on the cobbles from the courtyard where the guests park, and whilst the cobbles are uneven (not grotesquely so), our farmhouse and the cottage are 400 years old, and a property this age does have quirky and wonky features. That is what attracts most people to stay here, and most guests tell us they love that. As for the building works, the barn being converted is not immediately adjacent to the cottage, and there is not heavy machinery working all day long. There is some occasional noise, but the guests staying immediately prior to and after this visit were not perturbed by it, and indeed have already asked about booking to come back to us. The weather was very wet when these guests stayed – and they did say how disappointing this was when it was apparently warm and sunny in their home town of Stuttgart. UK weather in April is unpredictable, and we are sorry this marred the holiday.
