A lovely area to visit and beautiful scenary. We like visiting historic houses and gardens. There are a surprising number in this area, as well as other historic interests. The cottage is nice enough, but very old and in need of decorating and some upgrade. We found it quite a cold cottage, especially the lounge area, probably due to the thick outer walls. Also the two 'arm chairs' in the lounge are very small and far from comfortable. Would be better in a bedroom. The bedroom was a good size and the bed very comfortable. Not one of the better cottages we have rented over the years.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are of course disappointed that these guests were less than happy but much of their feedback mystifies us. We do not understand how they could have been cold when there is full gas central heating set to constant and with the room thermostat under the guests’ control. There is also a log burning stove with a supply of fuel. The cottage is hardly ‘very old’ with thick walls; it is Victorian built in 1840 with normal brick walls. It has recently been decorated inside and out but as the guests do not indicate which areas they thought needed ‘upgrading’ we cannot respond meaningfully to this comment.
