Ludlow is only 4 miles from this detached barn, in superb walking country, Worcester, Bewdley and Shrewsbury are easily accessible.

Paradise for walkers, at the bottom of Clee Hill, surrounded by fields and with shared country estate footpaths this converted barn could not be better placed. The traditional exterior belies the fact the interior has modern features throughout, but still manages to maintain many original features. The tranquil decoration of the open plan living/dining room is highlighted by the colourful comfy sofas. With its wooden floors and vaulted beamed ceiling, it’s just the place to relax of an evening and watch the large satellite TV.
The tranquil decoration continues through the dining area with its large dining table, easily seating 10 and into the well-equipped kitchen. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the barn, the comfortable bedrooms have en-suite facilities, one of which is a wet room. Apart from the natural sounds of the countryside, this lovely quiet location is ideal for a good night’s sleep – leaving you refreshed in the morning. The food centre of Ludlow is only 4 miles, and foodies will love exploring its many gourmet shops, whilst the nearest shops and pubs are just 1½ miles away.

Beamed living/dining room with French doors, wooden floor and well-equipped kitchen area. Two double bedrooms, each with 5ft bed (one zip & link); one with en-suite wet room and toilet, one with en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet (entrance also from hall).

From the description and the photos on the website, we expected a quiet holiday on a tranquil Shropshire farm, but the reality was very different. On many weekdays, from early morning until late at night, oil tankers and farm lorries drove past our windows. We feel we should have been warned about this unusual volume of traffic before booking. The description says the cottage is located on "a working farm", but this was misleading. We are used to normal farm traffic, but we have never experienced anything like this noise and disturbance. In fact, while there were cows in the field at the back of the cottage, the road in front was frequently in use from what we discovered was in fact an oil-production business located on the owner's land. The resulting traffic was very unpleasant and spoiled what would otherwise have been an enjoyable holiday. At times we counted more than ten small oil tankers in one half hour, with the accompanying noise and vibrations just a few feet from the windows of the cottage. This went on all day for several days at a time; then the tankers were replaced by lorries delivering material to the oil-production unit. The volume of traffic was smaller at the weekend, when only normal farm vehicles used the road. We had expected the farm tractors and were not bothered by them; it was the decidedly un-farm-like oil tankers and lorries that spoiled our stay. Had we known about the volume of traffic we would have booked our holiday elsewhere. It could be that we were unlucky. Perhaps we took our holiday at a particularly busy time for the oil factory, and it may be that for most of the year the road is used only by normal farm traffic. However this may be, we should have been warned of the possibility of traffic disturbance. We will certainly not be booking the Cow Shed again.

Cowshed cottage was spacious with all conveniences one could ask for. It was secluded & quiet, yet close to Ludlow. The walkin shower room was a special plus. The owner greeted us shortly after our arrival & was most gracious & helpful. Our stay was quite pleasant with morning & afternoon visits by the cows in the pasture at the back of the cottage.
