This Grade II listed cottage is in a great spot for exploring many historical buildings, Ashdown Forest and even London.

Nestled in the heart of the picturesque, Kentish village of Cowden is Cowslip Cottage. Dating back to the 18th century and Grade II listed, with a plethora of beams, it offers an ideal haven in which to relax and unwind from the stresses of everyday life! To the front of this terraced cottage is a lawned area with table and chairs, ideal for a sundowner, or in the colder months curl up in front of the wood burner with the Sunday papers or a good book. Alternatively, take a stroll across the road to the very welcoming village pub which also serves great food.

Cowden is where the three counties of Kent, Sussex and Surrey meet, and is between the North and South Downs in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with walks and cycle rides from the doorstep. The fisherman and golfer is also well catered for. The area is rich in history - this is old Wealden Iron country, and in 1573 had its own blast furnace making guns and cannon balls for the Army and Navy. Later, the village was known for its drapers and glove makers, who no doubt inhabited Cowslip Cottage.

Historical houses, castles and gardens abound in the area, including Standen House, an Arts and Crafts family home with William Morris interiors, Penshurst Place and Hever and Chiddingstone castles. Royal Tunbridge Wells is ideal for a spot of retail therapy and a stroll along the colonnaded Pantiles. Ashdown Forest with Pooh Corner, Chartwell (National Trust) and Lingfield Races make for great days out. Good rail connections to London can also be found nearby for further sightseeing opportunities. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

Cowslip Cottage is a lovely cottage in a gorgeous village with a good local pub. The cottage has been really well refurbished and albeit compact it is brimming with charm and character. We are a family of 4 with a 11 and 14 year old and the cottage was great for us. There is plenty to do in the area: visiting Hever Castle was a favorite with our kids. Pevensey Castle, Leeds Castle and lunch in Tunbridge Wells were all fun family days.
