Property Description

"Greenwood Grange offers the ideal holiday combination - premium quality accommodation, fine facilities all within a family-run friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and it has achieved a Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Award"

Greenwood Grange cottages have always stood out as something special. They are elegantly furnished with fine décor, immaculately kept, and offer a wide range of on-site facilities including a swimming pool, a sauna, a well-equipped games room and tennis courts. Durbaville is a fine example of the level of comfort, class and elegance you can expect from any property in Greenwood Grange.
Perhaps the cutest cottage on the grange, Durbaville is approached by its own gravel driveway. With a gated entrance into the courtyard that’s encompassed by trees, the cottage enjoys its own privacy even from the other properties within the grange. Ideal for ‘relax and unwind’ holidaymakers, there’s nothing to stop you from having a lazy week with the family.
Where Coomb Barton (ref DKG) boasts of an old-world tradition, Durbaville enjoys an easier, more contemporary way of doing things. There’s a veneer of refinement about the place, and with large windows, whitewashed walls and clever lighting, the property has a sense of space, light and cleanliness, whilst retaining its natural, homely feel thanks to many wooden surfaces, beams and bamboo flooring throughout. Get out in the open with an al-fresco meal in the evening sun, then collapse onto deluxe beds that’ll have you sleeping like logs in a matter of minutes. Durbaville sleeps up to eight people, but for those larger parties fancying a shindig or a hootenanny, a number of properties within Greenwood Grange can be booked together.
Along with the pool, sauna, games room and tennis courts, the 4-acre site features lawned gardens for leisurely games, a children’s play area and landscaped gardens for ambling around and discussing life’s big questions; “What is the meaning of life, why are we here and why isn’t our own garden as nice as this?” Take a step back in time as you explore Thomas Hardy’s childhood; where he was born, where he went to school, in fact Greenwood Grange was built by the celebrated writer’s father!
The county of Dorset features some of the most compelling terrain in the UK, from its crumbling cliffs along the Jurassic Coast up to its rolling hills in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. See if you can tackle the Dorset World Heritage Coastal Path, which enjoys magnificent views reaching far out to sea. For history enthusiasts, there are numerous stately homes owned by the National Trust to explore, and the county town of Dorchester can be reached on foot.
