The Lodge is peacefully tucked away with stunning views up the River Eden, which is on the eastern side of Cumbria, on the fringe of the Lake District, and is set at the side of a private lane which runs up to the main house (though some distance away). Refurbished and decorated to a high standard, it provides charming all-year-round accommodation for couples looking for tranquillity or even romance. It is also equipped with super-fast broadband with a wireless download speed of approximately 30Mb/s.

Eden is a haven for peace, tranquillity and a vast variety of wildlife, perfect for ornithologists and country lovers. It is an outstanding area for walking, whether for a hike on the high open fells or a gentle riverside stroll. Cyclists will love the quiet country lanes and the C2C cycle route. Outdoor activities don’t stop here - why not try canoeing on Ullswater (10 miles), a spot of fishing on the doorstep for trout, salmon and grayling (by prior arrangement with the owners), pony trekking or golf in Penrith (6 miles). There are attractions for the whole family including a cruise on Ullswater or a ride on a restored railway high in the North Pennines! Surrounded by dramatic landscapes including Ullswater and the north eastern fells, it is also close to both the borders of Scotland and the Yorkshire Dales. This secluded and unspoilt destination will inspire, rejuvenate and refresh visitors at any time of the year. A lively calendar of events adds to a holiday here with festivals of all kinds, country and craft fairs, farmers’ markets, and traditional agricultural shows to name just a few. Shop 3 miles, pub 1 mile.

Would have expected a washing machine with wash and drier unit for convenience. Wifi data usage restricted. Cooker unit did not have oven temperature settings as this had faded over time and you had to guess the setting which was not best. Location was perfect for our needs but the parking space could be improved by simply opening up the side entrance near the shed for access off the road where the garden is not of first importance. The inconvenience for loading and unloading the car on a grass surface in wet conditions and mud on shoes would be avoided.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments, very helpful. There is no reason that loading / unloading cannot be done immediately outside the front door as the lane past the cottage is very lightly used. Dedicated longer term parking is provided on grass opposite. There is no data restriction on Wi-Fi per se.

A very cozy & comfortable cottage. Wonderful views of Eden Valley; quiet, secluded bucolic setting. Rooks provided morning & evening political commentary.
