Excellent , comfortable and clean, set in beautiful walled garden which was completely private. We found it a very peaceful environment and it was calming and relaxing. The owners were most welcoming and were happy to help in any way they could. The area is very good for sightseeing with many places to visit . We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would certainly visit again if the opportunity arose.

Well equipped cottage in beautiful setting. Owners live next door and are very friendly and helpful but discreet. Somerset is much quieter than its neighbours in Devon and Cornwall so even in mid August there were fewer crowds anywhere we went. Lots to see but you do need to be prepared to drive as coast, Wells, Cheddar, Glastonbury, Wookey Hole etc are 40+ mins away

We arrived to a very warm welcome with a cream tea and lovely flowers on the table. The cottage was set in a pretty garden overlooking a duck pond with real ducks! The cottage itself was equipped to the highest degree - everything one could possibly want for comfort. Our hosts could not have been more helpful with any queries and a lot of trouble had been taken in providing information on visiting places of interest in the vicinity. Could not imagine that anyone would have any cause for complaint and we would certainly come again.

We were expecting a 4 * holiday home which this clearly was not. The kitchen area was not up to standard, a very old microwave and oven - no dishwasher. The ensuites had not got a decent shower between them and the bath was very narrow - with just a hand held shower. The windows and doors did not fit and there was a constant howling gale coming through. The flooring was rough coir matting throughout and the table was covered with oilcloth which did not enhance the appearance of the room. The garden was very nice but owing to cold winds we did not get the chance to use it. The cottage was a couple of miles down a very winding, single track country lane and access to the nearest village was up an even narrower single track lane with high hedges and no passing points. There were only a couple of places where you could get an evening meal within 4 miles.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We were saddened by this review. We have been letting for 16 years and the cottage has always been graded 4 Star by Visit England. This year we were awarded Customers’ Choice status as a result of the excellent reviews we received in 2015. . It is three miles from the centre of Bridgwater with numerous eating places. The approach road is less than a mile on a wide single lane with plenty of passing places and good visibility. The lane to the nearest village (Wembdon) is one mile, again with numerous passing places apart from a 250 metres uphill straight stretch with good visibility. The cottage description on the official websites states that the flooring is coir matting and the bath, which is a standard size, has a shower attachment. The other en suite has a shower in good condition. It was overhauled at the beginning of the season and a brand new larger showerhead fitted. A dishwasher is not listed in the description (not a 4 Star requirement). The tablecloth is washable vinyl in very good condition and can be removed. The cooker has a ceramic hob and the oven is fan assisted. All our electrical equipment is PAT tested every year. The cottage is fully centrally heated and double glazed. There is also a large wood burning stove. At no time during their stay did these guests advise us that they were unhappy with the cottage. We always ask visitors to let us know if they have any concerns.
