Offering beautiful rural and farmland views, this is an attractive little home away from home, perfect to relax in.

Offering beautiful rural and farmland views, this is an attractive little home away from home, perfect to relax in.

Picture yourself sitting outside in the morning sun, enjoying a good coffee as a herd of alpacas graze in the field below. All this and more is available to visitors staying in Henley Cottage.

Situated between the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the southern coast, surrounded by lush green pastureland, this single-storey holiday cottage embodies the rural English holiday dream. Snuggling up beside the fire with your other half and a good book is what great British holidays are all about, and the cottage possesses a real homely charm owing to its rural wooden furnishings, French doors and beams. For holidays with other couples, the cottage can be booked together with the neighbouring Alpaca Cottage (ref. PHM).

The town of Battle is usually the first port of call for history buffs. Built on the site of the 1066 Battle of Hastings, the age-old Benedictine Abbey is stooped in ancient history. Today, the abbey hosts a number of events that pay tribute to one of the country’s most significant battles, including thrilling re-enactments, which give visitors the unique opportunity to turn back the clock 950 years and witness medieval warfare first-hand. For drinks connoisseurs, the award-winning wines of Carr Taylor Seddlescombe and Lamberhurst vineyards are a treat for the taste buds, and the beaches at Eastbourne are great for sandcastle building, sunbathing and swimming alike, having been repeatedly awarded with Blue Flag status in the past.

You can rest assured – no matter how you choose to spend your days out, this stand-alone holiday cottage promises nothing but peace and quiet in the evenings. Be it a base to begin your adventure, or a holiday of recuperation, Henley Cottage suits holiday goers of any kind.

We stayed for three days in June 2017. The weather veered from hot sun to teeming rain. We found the cottage very comfortable and quite charming, the setting and the garden are peaceful and pretty, and the alpacas a wonderful added extra! There is lots to do once you drive out a few miles, but nothing 'on the doorstep'. The owners left us a lovely welcome gift of flowers, milk, biscuits and home-made cake. There are a few low beams and, despite the warning notices, my husband still managed to bang his head quite hard. Tall people do need to be extra careful. Good shower, soft (but rather creaky) bed, well-equipped kitchen, and garden furniture provided if needed. Would definitely recommend, and would like to go again in the future.
