Set within a lovely village and next to the owner’s orchard, this property enjoys charming rural views.

On the edge of the small village of Hooe, close to Pevensey Bay, lies this 19th-century barn conversion, one of a pair, providing thoughtful holiday accommodation for two people. Enjoy rural views from the patio and stroll around the owner’s orchard. Visit the local pub with its smuggling heritage. Stroll along the unspoilt pebble beach at Pevensey, see the castle with two-thirds of its towered walls still standing, and maybe spot ‘The Pale Lady of Pevensey’. The Blue Flag beaches at Eastbourne are a short drive, with access to the South Downs National Park. Battle Abbey, Glyndebourne and many National Trust properties and gardens are all easily accessible. Shop and pub ¾ mile.

This property is ideally situated for exploring the local area. It is convenient for the coast and countryside. Local properties worth exploring include Charleston and Monks House. we also visited Lewes and Battle. We also had in mind exhibitions at the Towner (Eastbourne) and De La Warre pavilion in Bexhill: we were really impressed. We found the cottage to be comfortable and cosy with a lovely small sitting out area which was just the right size for the two of us to relax after a day exploring. There is a grocery outlet at a garage not too far away and the local pub was friendly and did good food. It was very quiet despite being near a road and we enjoyed the birdsong in the evening. Anyone visiting should remember Pevensey Castle - it is close by and a treasure. If going to Pevensey or Battle Abbey do make use of the free audio guides - they are really interesting and enhance your visit.
