Step back in time at Beamish Open Air Museum or enjoy a spot of retail therapy at the Metro Centre both easily accessible.

These two delightful holiday cottages (Refs MRA and MRB), each with its own history, are tastefully converted from former barns dating back to the 1600s. Retaining character and charm, they lie in a peaceful setting overlooking countryside with many cycle tracks nearby. Ideal walking and fishing country, yet close to famous attractions - visitors can step back in time at the Beamish Open Air Museum or visit the Metro Centre (a shopper’s paradise), Hexham (with its glorious abbey), Durham City (a city of contrasts, with its fine cathedral and designer shops), or the Northumberland coast, which are all within an hour’s drive. The medieval castle of Raby has a 200-acre deer park and is a firm favourite with visitors. An ideal location to explore all the surrounding AONB. Shop 500 yards.

Adjoins owner’s home. Open-plan living/dining room with gas ‘coal-effect’ fire in feature black fireplace, limestone slate floor and large modern kitchen area. Open stairs to first floor: Two double bedrooms, each with TV. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower attachment, toilet and tiled floor.

Not adequately equipped for 6 adults ignoring the lack of shower or dishwasher and hot water. Nothing matching. Sofas shot so inadequate seating. A real shame as we hired it for Christmas. We have contacted the owner before leaving this but no satisfactory reply

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We were disappointed to read your comments following your recent stay at John Wesley Cottage. The property is visited every year by our Regional Manager who confirmed that the Cottage is more than adequately equipped for 6 people. The property description does not advertise a dishwasher or a shower, the bathroom has a bath with a shower attachment. Following your feedback, we have ordered new sofas which are due into the property in April (2017). In reference to your comment regarding the hot water, the guests prior to and after your stay had no issues and it is disappointing that you did not mention these points during your stay having spoken to my husband on numerous occasions. We do pride ourselves on high standards, and this is reflected by the vast majority of the feedback we receive.
