Surrounded by beautiful Cheshire countryside, this detached property is close to many attractions, including Chirk Castle and Liverpool’s Albert Dock.

Surrounded by beautiful Cheshire countryside, this detached property is close to many attractions, including Chirk Castle and Liverpool’s Albert Dock.

Millers Cottage, with views over Dymocks Mill pond and the Wych Brook, is situated in stunning countryside down a single-track road, and due to limited public transport in the local area, bringing your own car is highly recommended. This detached holiday cottage is adjacent to the owner’s property, a corn mill dating back to 1780. Millers Cottage is 3 miles west of the historic village of Malpas, which has two stores, a bakery, two restaurants, butchers, pubs, and a Post Office. It is perfect for exploring the counties of Cheshire and Shropshire, as well as North Wales. The Roman city of Chester is within easy driving distance with its amphitheatre, zoo, shopping, and museums. An hour’s drive away is Liverpool’s Albert Dock, The Beatles Story, Tate Gallery and the Liverpool One shopping centre.
Other places of interest include walking the Sandstone Trail on Bickerton Hills, Beeston Castle with views over the Cheshire countryside, and Cholmondeley Castle with its gardens and tea rooms. National Trust properties Erddig, Chirk Castle and Powys Castle are also within easy reach. The Bishop Bennet Way is close by, as are miles of footpaths and cycle ways.
For peace and quiet, Millers Cottage is the place, with an abundance of wildlife to watch; regular visitors are kingfishers, otters, mallards and mandarin ducks, plus garden birds including the grey wagtail, nesting in the water wheel. In the evening, see the stars and watch the bats, or bring your fishing rod and try to catch your supper. Shops, pubs and restaurants 3 miles.

My wife and I had an outstanding holiday and this delightful and idyllic location. The surroundings are both stunning and peaceful at the same time. The cottage is very well appointed, comfortable and quiet and the hosts could not have been more charming or helpful. An added bonus was the clean, warm and modern indoor pool which we had to ourselves! Just note that the approach road is narrow and steep - overall Millers Cottage is very highly recommended indeed.

Stylish well equipped comfortable cottage in a beautiful country setting (old mill buildings). Very clean and well maintained. Owners Laura and Robert were very welcoming and helpful. Our kids loved the pool and watching wildlife in the garden. We had a nice relaxing weekend with some fun family days out - location is a very quiet secluded country one but there is lots to do in easy striking distance. We were sad to leave and may stay here again in future
