Property Description

This former barn, now Grade II listed, dates back hundreds of years and has been sympathetically converted to provide high class accommodation with modern conveniences, tasteful interior and a good sense of space throughout. The holiday property, adjacent to the owners’ home, is situated midway between Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth and just a short distance from the popular town of Much Wenlock. The Wenlock Edge, ever popular with walkers, can be seen across the open countryside that stretches out in front of the property, making it ideal for nature lovers and ornithologists. Shopping is a joy in Shropshire with its medieval towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow, and the cuisine is superb. Stabling and grazing is available. Shops 5 miles, pub 2½ miles.

Spacious living room. Spacious kitchen/dining room. First floor: Double bedroom with 6ft bed and en-suite shower room with toilet.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Very nice property with everything you could need. Owners next door are very eager to please and full of local information. Sept 2012.
  2. This property was really excellent. The setting is truly beautiful and the view from the churchyard opposite is stunning. The owners, who live in the adjoining property, were very welcoming and friendly and the standard of the accommodation was first rate. Daisy (the dog) loved it too. We had only one real criticism: The lighting in the main room is not bright enough to read by comfortably (adding a reading lamp would do the trick) and the lighting in the bathroom is also too dim. We suspect the problem may be the owners’ enthusiasm for eco-friendly energy - laudable, but as people get older they need better light to see by! Our only other suggestion is to consider adding wi-fi access. Increasingly, I suspect, wi-fi will become a standard part of the package for the best accommodation. Still, overall, top-rating for us and we’d happily recommend it to anyone. Sept 2012.
  3. Superb cottage, well appointed and maintained. This property offers a warm welcome from the owners and true darkness at night. You also get fresh eggs, and a few minutes walk away are great views of the Shropshire countryside. May 2012.
  4. Wonderful property, well looked after, great location. April 2012.
  5. Great cottage and delightful area. Well appointed and very high standard of interior finish. Made to feel very welcome and owners extremely accommodating. The location of the cottage is great for access to surrounding attractions, has stunning views and is ideal for a very peaceful and relaxing holiday. Aug 2011.
  6. A very comfortable converted barn. Tastefully done. And superbly fitted throughout! The kitchen was spotless. And you’ve got everything you need! The seating in the lounge is comfortable. And you’ve got "freeview" on the TV which gives you a reasonable choice of programmes. Upstairs the bed is very comfortable.. You can see out to Wenlock Edge, and to the North across the Shropshire plain.. There is no bath if you prefer to have a soak, but a good roomy shower.. Plenty of places to store away your bits and pieces! You can purchase genuine free range eggs which are superb! And the Peace and Quiet is just what you need on a Countryside holiday... Close to Shrewsbury, Ironbridge is a must. Severn Valley Railway at Bridgnorth. And for the adventurous! Give yourself a couple of hours to get to the top. It’s quite a climb. Overall we can thoroughly recommend this property and will go back there in the future! May 2011.
  7. Superb renovation and fittings underfloor heating is fine but rather slow to heat up the property if for instance the outside conditions are cool or damp. The lounge lacks a focal point other than the TV so an electric fire could assist in both these areas. Property is quite some distance from any shops so it it VITAL that visitors ensure they bring essentials for "The relaxing first cuppa" with them. July 2011.
  8. Very nice place, owners very nice. Great if you have a dog. Oct 2010.
  9. A very nice light kitchen with one full wall of windows, but alas overlooking the Barn wall. Property very clean and spacious for two. Also liked the home made bed and the space available. Sept 2010.
  10. Beautifully restored and maintained converted barn in really lovely countryside. Plenty to explore around. Sept 2010.
  11. The accommodation is absolutely beautiful. It is very well appointed and has everything you could possibly wish for. Contrary to the information we received with our booking confirmation, there is a microwave! The views are stunning from upstairs and the bed is very comfortable. Aug 2010.
  12. The barn has been very sympathetically converted to an extremely high standard. The owners are very friendly and have thought of lots of little touches to make the stay very good eg. box with soaps, shampoos in bathroom; toilet paper provided;oil condiments in kitchen. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone. May 2010.
  13. A great deal of thought had gone into planning, building and furnishing the barn. The kitchen was a delight: our only sadness was that there was no view to enjoy from the sitting room, though the countryside around was beautiful. Our hosts are hard working, but never too busy to have time for a chat - we tried to avoid making any too long! They were also very ready to help with any problem. More details about using the hob would have saved our asking for help. Although we had been told that there was no microwave oven, there was in fact one there. May 2010.
  14. Immaculately presented. First class decor and furnishings. Very friendly and helpful owner. Sept 2009.
  15. So very quiet and relaxing. Aug 2009.
  16. Very high standard of presentation, everything you could wish for in a holiday cottage. March 2009.
  17. Wonderfully tasteful. Everthing was of the very best quality. May 2009.
  18. There are a large range of towns, walks and places of interest within a short traveling time, and the roads are surprisingly quiet. The main towns have very good park and ride schemes. Oct 2008.
  19. Tranquility, utter peace & silence! Lots to see & do within a very few miles. Excellent hospitality. Oct 2007.
