Pheasants Hill Old Byre was once one of the cow barns of Pheasants Hill Farm, and is nestled adjacent to the owners’ home. The farm buildings date from the mid-18th century and comprise a traditional brick-and-flint farmhouse, an impressive range of outbuildings - barns, granary and cart shed. Originally belonging to the Hambleden Estate, it ceased being a working farm in 1962 and was purchased by the present owner’s father in 1968. The farm is situated in the renowned Hambleden Valley and lies within the Pheasants Hill Conservation Area, as well as the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is under the protection of a National Trust covenant.
You will find mementoes of previous generations throughout the property. The owner’s grandfather was a master carver and you will be sleeping in a wonderful carved oak bed that he made for his own wedding in 1902 (but made super-comfortable with a brand new sprung base and orthopaedic mattress). The owner’s father was an artist and nearly all of the paintings and drawings in the property are his work.
The one-acre garden, shared with the owners, is fully enclosed (to keep the deer out). Guests can enjoy their own sitting area, with table and chairs provided. The garden is looked after without the use of pesticides or herbicides and is, in consequence, a haven for wildlife. The wildflower meadow is covered in cowslips in the spring and more than 100 Pyramid Orchids appear in the summer.
The owners are passionate about wildlife and the environment, and will be donating 15% of earnings on the property to local wildlife and conservation charities. Hot water and heating in the property uses electricity solely from renewable resources. Rainwater for the garden is collected in a large underground cistern. Shop/tea room and pub/restaurant ½ mile.

All on the ground floor. Beamed throughout.
Open plan living space.

Living/dining area: With 32" Smart TV.
Kitchen area:
With electric oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher.
Bedroom: With double bed and en-suite with walk-in shower, toilet and heated towel rail.

Storage heaters (underfloor heating in en-suite), electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Welcome pack. Fridge/freezer and washer/dryer in adjoining barn. Terrace with garden furniture. Enclosed lawned 1-acre garden (shared with owners). Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: No children. There is an unfenced pond in the grounds, 50 yards away.

This is an old farm building turned into holiday accommodation - a combination of character and all mod cons. Set in the owners garden, with full access to a wildflower area, a peaceful and quiet location, excellent for staying with 2 dogs. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed our stay of 7 nights, the place was beginning to feel like home!

We were staying for just three nights over Easter and found this to be a really cosy and extremely well equipped little cottage. The setting is ideal and I don't think my wife and I have ever been made so welcome by the owners, and we have stayed in many places over the years. One small observation that might be of use to future occupants , is, if you happen to be, shall we say, rather larger than average , you might find it a little cramped. Not that we had this problem, I hasten to add. Although the weather could have been better, this trip made us want to return.

This is a lovely place to stay, comfortable and peaceful, Charles and Kate are very nice people who clearly want you to enjoy your stay and want for nothing. The area is truly beautiful and full of wonderful walks. Thanks Kate for some of the best biscuits I have tasted! And Fred very much enjoyed the ginger curd, we would not hesitate to return.

An excellent base from where to explore a delightful area. As well as the local pub there were good shops and eateries in both Henley and Marlow. The owners were lovely and keen to make sure everything went well.
