Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. A warm and comfy cottage, very well equipped. Sept 2012.
  2. The cottage is very comfortable and a quiet location. The owner is very pleasant and helpful, providing us with an excellent supply of "start off" provisions. A dishwasher would have been welcome!!! Sept 2012.
  3. We found the cottage very well equipped. A very good selection of kitchen utensils. The double bedroom was good but the twin bedded room was partcularly small with very little space for clothes. The lounge was also comfortable. July 2012.
  4. Friendly greeting on arrival, liked the little personal touches, like milk, biscuits, wine. The fact that there were two on suit bathrooms this was very useful to our visit. Lots of coat hangers and bath towels, everything you could have wanted. Lovely area outside to sit, with the company of the sheep and hens. Would definitley recommend this property. May 2012.
  5. The holiday met our criteria in full; a quiet, cosy place to quietly bring in the new year and walks directly from the cottage. Owners very friendly and welcoming. Including gas/elec in the overall cost was very good given the time of year. Dec 2011.
  6. Charming cottage, in super location to access both the seaside and the many historic sites and beautiful gardens in the area. There were so many places to visit we found it hard to choose. Idyllic rural setting: the cottage has its own fenced patio area beyond which are fields and we very much enjoyed watching the small flock of sheep just yards from the door. Very friendly welcome from our hosts who assured us we should contact them if needed them but then left us in peace which is perfect. We found Cart Lodge and Hooe fairly easily but it is an area of country lanes and the purchase of a large scale map facilitated our getting about considerably. Oct 2011.
  7. The cottage was wonderful. All the extras you need and more, the welcoming hamper is a very special touch. Thank you to the owners, who were also very welcoming. The area is lovely with the sheep, rabbits, squirrels for company. Very comfortable beds, nice bathrooms and shower, and well fitted out kitchen. Excellent. Oct 2011.
  8. Fantastic accommodation in a peaceful location. Very cosy and well equipped. Owners were on hand should you need them and the welcome pack was a nice touch. Would recommend to others. Oct 2011.
  9. Very quiet cottage. Peaceful location. Owners very friendly. Aug 2011.
  10. Excellent location for exploring 1066 country. Well equipped cottage and friendly owners! Quiet and peaceful with only sheep for company. Nice local pub - 20 mins walk. July 2011.
  11. Good location for sightseeing. Owners very friendly and helpful. Welcome pack very nice especially after a long journey. Property was comfortable, well furnished both inside and out (bbq, table, chairs, sunshade outdoors). Felt very much like home from home - we would consider staying there again and would certainly recommend it. July 2011.
  12. Small property more suited to a family of four than a 2 sets of adults. Location wasn’t bad - pub not far and within good distances of Rye, Bexhill, Battle, Bodiam and Batemans. July 2011.
  13. Very cosy and the welcome pack was a nice touch. Feb 2011.
  14. In the design of the cottage the owners really thought about both the internal and external layout as the cottage. Internally it worked very well, externally the cottage looked out across the countryside and was extremely private as it wasn’t overlooked by anyone including the owners property. Oct 2010.
  15. Second bedroom very small. Sept 2010.
  16. The location was ideal for exploring the south east. Aug 2010.
  17. The Cart Lodge is a lovely cottage, very spacious and more than adequate for a family of four. It is set on a working farm with just sheep and a sheepdog for company which the children loved. The owners of the lodge gave us some great information about the local area and left us alone to do as we please but were always on hand if required. We would recommend this cottage to anybody wishing to visit East Sussex. Aug 2010.
  18. The property was very clean and well equipped, with many added extras - welcome pack of food and drink, toiletries etc. The bungalow was in a very quiet spot with only sheep for company. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Aug 2010.
  19. The situation, the quiet, the nice owners (helpful and never intrusive). July 2010.
  20. It was an added bonus having a paddock adjacent to the property. Eight sheep were resident and were great company over the week. The property is well placed to visit many excellent places in East Sussex. All appliances were new, well maintained and the furniture and beds were comfortable. The owners lived next door and were always very helpful. Wine fruit & biscuits awaited our arrival. If visiting East Sussex again we would try and rebook The Cart Lodge. June 2010.
