Nice friendly people although at no point did the lady make an appearance to say hello. The gentleman was charming and a thoroughly nice chap. Had a nice Victoria homemade sponge made for us upon arrival and that was most welcome. Lanes around the place are tight, so not ideal for a big car, it scratched my car to pieces and now having to sort that out now I'm home. The biggest let down was the bed upstairs as it just kept breaking. The wooden slats just kept falling out and all in all it happened 6 times over the week we stayed. I didn't report it but I could clearly see that they have failed before as some of the end caps on the wooden slats were completely missing and some were broken, so its clear that other people that have stayed there have had this happen to them also. As far as the barn goes, its great, its cosy, its quiet and to be honest its a great place to stay but its just a bit far from any local amenities and you defiantly need a car but make sure you bring a smaller car because they will get scratched on the narrow lanes with the overhanging bushes. Value for money, yes its ok, they have been as honest as they can to be fair, the wifi is not brilliant but they do tell you that anyway and i enjoyed my stay. Would i come back again, maybe not but thats only because i want closer amenities. There are some great places to eat and all in all we had a nice week but couldn't wait to sleep in my own bed as there is nothing worse than turning over in theirs at 2 am and hearing a bang as two or three wooden slats give way. My wife thinks that a dressing table and a mirror would be a great addition to the upstairs bedroom.....and sort that bed out!!!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. I was sorry to have missed you whilst you stayed at the property. We had no idea that there was a problem with the bed as no one mentioned it to us. Had we known, we would have sorted this out for you whilst you were there. We have now ordered a new bed to go into the bedroom in question. Unfortunately there isn’t room for a dressing table, but we will hang a mirror in there . The lanes are typical of Devon, so unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about that. We always ask that if customers have any problems during their stay that they contact us, and we will try to sort this out as soon as possible. We always like our customers to be happy, and enjoy their stay with us.

We had a great time and found everything very comfortable. The owners were very helpful and welcoming even setting us up with a delicious homemade cake when we arrived. Our dog was made welcome too. The countryside all around is beautiful so the barn is a very good place to have as a holiday base.

We enjoyed a wonderful weeks stay at the Threshing Barn. We received a great welcome from our hosts, Pauline and Clive, along with fresh eggs and a home baked cake - delicious! Barn facilities were second to none, kitchen had all the mod-cons needed, sofas and beds were comfortable and overall decor was tastefully done. Clive recommended nearby dog friendly pubs, which we made the most of throughout our stay. We used the Coastal Path book provided to plan our daily walks, which allowed us to see so much of the North Devon coastline in just 7 days... Brilliant! For our last night we decided to splash out and treat ourselves to a meal at the the nearby Kentisbury Grange Coach House restaurant (again recommended by Clive), and Clive and Pauline kindly offered to be our taxi service for the night.... Totally unexpected but much appreciated. We would absolutely recommended Threshing barn to friends and family.
