Beautiful barn conversion in South Downs National Park, with beams, exposed brick work and wood burning stove, good walks nearby.

These two beautifully presented properties, set in the South Downs National Park, have been tastefully converted from a south-facing barn, and command views of open countryside and the surrounding arable farmland. The cathedral city of Winchester and Petersfield are also easily accessible. Good walks abound in this scenic area, particularly on Butser Hill (3 miles) and the South Down Trail at Petersfield. Sailing 10 miles. Golf 6 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

The premises are rural, spacious and clean, if slightly remote. Electricity is a separate, excessive, £30 per week charge, and you need to bring your own towels - neither of these aspects is the norm nowadays. One bedroom is dark, and has no sound separation from the lounge because of the strange "Juliette" balcony that overlooks it. Quirky or strange...?? There is loads of outside space but the restrictive car parking requirement is unnecessarily obtuse. Neither is there an outside drying line, only an inadequate interior airer. The iron needs replacing as the cord could be dangerous. The sound on the TV is variable. Most of the pamphlets about places of interest are long out of date. There are just a few books to read, few of local interest, and only a pack of playing cards, with no other box games for entertainment. Wifi at this location is not good. Overall the premises are adequate but not the best we have occupied. We had the impression of a casual and penny-pinching approach by the owners.

Very nice cottage, quiet, good views. Pubs and shops not too far away. About 20 minutes from Portsmouth attractions. Owners helpful.

Lovely cottage, very peaceful and particularly nice bedrooms. Would have really appreciated a cafetiere or other coffee maker as we enjoyed being there so much, we spent a lot of time just relaxing in the cottage.
