Whether it’s a romantic weekend away or a weeks’ stay in this spacious retreat, then look no further. The name ’Tom Putt’s’ derives from a variety of apples grown in the orchard garden. The thoughtfully designed interior offers an excellent level of comfort, with a large living/dining room, well-equipped kitchen and an impressive large bedroom overlooking the rear terraced garden. You will really feel spoilt at this cottage. Situated in a quiet, rural location, next to the owners’ 16th century thatched farmhouse, this semi-detached barn conversion enjoys views of the surrounding countryside towards Dartmoor.

The village of Northlew is about a mile away with its pub and community run shop. Located near the cottage is a local vineyard, producing award-winning wines, which has organised tours and tastings, and the best news is you can simply walk home. Nearby Okehampton, the gateway to Dartmoor, is a short distance away. As well as having a good selection of shops and amenities, it has very good access to the Dartmoor National Park, where you can enjoy the dramatic landscape. Okehampton castle and nearby Castle Drogo (National Trust) are worth a visit, or walk along the old railway to Meldon Reservoir and enjoy the stunning views.

The location of the cottage makes it an ideal base from which to explore the North Cornwall and Devon areas. There are stunning beaches at Woolacombe and Sandymouth. Enjoy a day out at Hartland and visit the lighthouse, Hartland Quay and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. If gardens are of interest, you will find the RHS gardens at Rosemoor a delight. There are numerous National Trust properties in the surrounding area, and other local attractions include Roadford Lake and Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre. Golf and horse riding are available nearby, or perhaps bring your bike and cycle the Tarka Trail. Shop and pub 1¼ miles.

Fabulous cottage; one of the best places we have stayed. So many extras provided on arrival....milk, fruit and a wonderful cream tea. Thoughtfully furnished with everything provided to make your stay as comfortable as possible. If you want peace and tranquility, this place has it in abundance. Owners are extremely polite and kind.

Rural location ideal for exploring all parts of Devon and North Cornwall. nearest town is Oakhampton on edge of Dartmoor. Tom Putt's is a lovely conversion with high quality rooms - more than adequate for a couple - we were really spoilt. Owners live adjacent in cottage and were always friendly and helpful and even provided scones/jam/cream upon arrival. We were lucky with the dry weather for our visit. Would rate 5 star and would be happy to return.

We had a lovely time at Tom Putt's. We can't fault the cottage, it was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The road there was a little hairy, but then I'm not an experienced countryside-driver. The owners were friendly and available and very generous with the welcome pack. We're definitely considering a return visit!
