Lovely cottage in great location. Shame that the weather was so bad.

We spent three nights at the cottage (4 adults) and were very pleased with the peacefulness, the proximity to Friden (we were there for the Eroica Britannia Festival), the fact that there was bike storage, etc. We would definitely consider a return visit!

Pros - Great location for visiting the glories of the White Peak. The setting is rural and stunningly beautiful, and it was lovely to be able to wander through the interesting garden and be serenaded by the birds each dawn. Hosts Tim and Michelle are absolutely delightful and could not have been more helpful. The barn kitchen is extremely well-equipped. Cons - Minor quibbles. The location of the staircase - you have to go through the downstairs bedroom to get to it from the kitchen - means this is probably a better bet for a family than for two sets of friends. There was a permanent slight odor in the upstairs bedroom. We found the upstairs pretty warm in early June even with the windows and skylights open, so fans would be a necessity in hotter weather. Be aware that the walking-distance pub in the village (pretty much Warslow's only amenity apart from the availability of fresh back-yard eggs) is a bit grim and serves food only on some nights of the week.
