Firstly let me just say that we had a cracking holiday at this property, having walks on our doorstep, lovely property and swimming pool worked out wonderfully. The house itself does have issues though mainly through poor design, for example, if you're using the Swimming Pool and need food/drink it's a long way from the lower terrace to the top of the house with the shortest route being through a bedroom as the only door is on the far side. The slabs around the Pool are loose and cracked with weeds growing through them. Chickens are allowed to roam free yet Dogs are allowed, I refuse to keep my dog tied up all week so if a chicken wanders into the garden then it didn't hang around for long. Just as well as we didn't want a lot of chicken mess in the garden. There seems to be a lack of a cloths line even though there's a washing machine?? Unfortunately the owner is more akin to the Scarlet Pimpernel as we didn't see him first nor last, nigh on impossible to get hold of despite voicesmails and texts. Just as well there weren't any emergencies! Despite this, we did have a great time, the price charged though I expected a more professional and well maintained rental. Beware the Bats nesting just outside the lounge balcony, they have a habit of coming in.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. Thank you for your feedback and we're sorry that you had some issues during your stay with us, hopefully we can respond to the points you raised. Sadly we were not able to build the house around the location of the swimming pool due to planning restrictions hence the layout of the exterior doors, generally we have families to stay so its not a problem walking though a bedroom. There are tables and chairs on all levels of the property, dining room, lower decking and also at the poolside so there is a choice of how far you'd like to carry food or drink with the pool being visible from the lower deck. We totally agree with the slabs being lose etc and its our intention to renovate the pool surround this Winter and we're sorry if it caused you any concern. Chickens are allowed to roam free, but only once we have confirmed with the guests that this is OK, this conversation was held over the phone with Peter prior to him going on holiday, he did also mention that I would be on site and if there were any problems to let me know. My number is also in the ECC visitors book and property guide along with the numbers for doctors, dentists, pharmacies and also ECC should any emergencies have arisen. As for being a Scarlet Pimpernel...even the Scarlet Pimpernel gets a Summer Holiday ;-p We are fortunate to be out in the countryside and we feel privileged that we are visited by the wildlife that we share our surroundings with badgers, foxes, snakes, mice, dormice, bats, owls, buzzards, deer and if you're very very very lucky the elusive Scarlet Pimpernel. We're glad that you had a good holiday and we hope that you created some lovely memories for your family to share in the future. Kind Regards Peter and Arabella
