Property Description

Set in peaceful, rural surroundings, this particularly well-thought-out detached barn conversion sits next to a newly planted small vineyard and provides excellent holiday accommodation for families or groups. The barn boasts much character with oak floors throughout the ground floor and oak staircases at each end of the property, one leading to the master bedroom with a small recessed balcony, which overlooks the tennis court with views of the surrounding countryside and village church; the other leading to a double bedroom and shower room. The light and airy living room on the ground floor has a wood-burning stove, ideal for cosy winter evenings, and there is also a large games room. The ground floor also benefits from being wheelchair friendly with a twin bedroom and en-suite bathroom.
The barn is equidistant between Rye and Tenterden (five miles), each offering a variety of restaurants and interesting antique shops, whilst Tenterden also has a leisure centre. The Kent and East Sussex steam railway is situated at nearby Tenterden providing great views along the seven mile track. Sissinghurst Castle Gardens (NT) was created in the 1930s by the novelist Vita Sackville West and makes for a good visit, whilst Small Hythe Place is a ‘must see’ 16th-century half-timbered house. Local wines can be sampled at Tenterden Vineyards, where visitors can also see the hop fields. The South of England Rare Breeds Centre is at Woodchurch offering farm animals and a play area, ideal for the children, whilst slightly further afield, a day trip to Le Touquet can be made from Lydd airport, 12 miles (passports will be needed). Dinner flights can also be taken along the South Coast on a Saturday evening from April to September. For leisurely days out the area is ideal walking territory and there are miles of Blue Flag sandy beaches at Camber. Shops 3 miles, pub 1 mile.

Slightly sloping path to entrance. Open-plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove, rugs on oak floor, door to patio and spacious, well-equipped, modern fitted kitchen with oak worktops and butler sink. Games room with oak floor, TV, DVD and sofa-bed (for +2). Twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom and toilet. Separate toilet. Two separate oak staircases (one either end) to first floor: Three bedrooms, each with sloping ceiling; two double, one with 5ft bed and balcony, one twin. Bathroom with toilet.
