Property Description

In an oasis of peace and tranquillity, this spacious house stands serenely in 20 acres of beautiful Scots pine forest interspersed by expanses of wild heather and moorland – a nature reserve, and a real haven for wildlife enthusiasts, cyclists and walkers alike. Set in seclusion and reached via a good country lane, this wonderful holiday property is light and airy, with plenty of large windows to enjoy the surrounding woodland views. It boasts its own large, south-facing garden with a patio and barbecue, ideal for al fresco dining on long summer nights. Just along the road is the vast Abernethy Forest Reserve with Loch Garten, its RSPB Osprey Centre and look-out point with endless woodland and moorland walks.
Fringed by heather-clad and often snow-capped mountains, the glorious Spey Valley with its meandering river, numerous lochs and pretty villages is wonderful for outdoor enthusiasts, and Rymore Wood is an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful area. Aviemore, a popular ski resort in winter and a lively meeting place in summer, is just 10 miles away. At the nearby village of Boat of Garten, the Strath Spey Railway Company’s steam train chugs a 20-minute scenic route to Aviemore during the summer. A few miles from here and part of the huge Cairngorms National Park, is enchanting Loch an Eilein with its ruined island castle, and south of Glenmore Forest Park is the colossal Cairn Gorm (4084 ft). A funicular railway ascends to the dizzy heights of its granite peaks, which boast spectacular, panoramic views. This is whisky country, and visitors can enjoy a tipple at one of the numerous famous distilleries found in Speyside, only a half-hour drive away. Horse riding at Aviemore. Sailing on Loch Insh, 15 miles. Inverness, Pitlochry and coast all within 30 miles. Nethy Bridge (4 miles) and Boat of Garten have pubs, restaurants, golf and fishing. Shops 3 miles.
