At the nearby village of Boat of Garten, the Strath Spey Railway Company’s steam train chugs a 20-minute scenic route to Aviemore during the summer. A few miles from here and part of the huge Cairngorms National Park, is enchanting Loch an Eilein with its ruined island castle, and south of Glenmore Forest Park is the colossal Cairn Gorm (4084 ft).
