Just a few minutes’ drive inland from the ever-fascinating Holy Island, Beehive Barn is an exceptionally well furnished, semi-detached property that has been well equipped for a superbly relaxing holiday. The generously proportioned living areas open out onto the large enclosed garden where the sun bathes the sheltered patio in the afternoon and evening. There is a cosy wood burner in the living room and another comfortable social seating area in the kitchen (which has granite worktops), so the cooks need never feel abandoned. The garden has views of the surrounding countryside and across to the coast, as well as distant views of Bamburgh Castle and closer views of Lindisfarne and its causeway. Great care and attention to detail throughout the property ensures your enjoyment of this lovely region of the Northumberland coast with its almost empty sandy beaches, ancient castles and links golf courses. You can also enjoy diving in crystal clear waters, boat trips to the Farne Islands, exploring the Cheviot Hills fishing locally. There is also ample cycling on quiet side roads, and the property has racks for storing your bikes. Too much to do and see in just one visit to Beehive Barn. Beach 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 650 yards.

Lovely clean spacious cottage with everything you need for a holiday. Gill looked after us providing help and assistance and the welcoming flowers and scones were great. A pity there isn’t a shower over the bath and the sink in the en suite is a bit small but overall a fantastic cottage

Excellent owner who really went the extra mile in her approach with very generous welcoming goodies, not forgetting our dog. Communication was also very good. We were worried that we might hear some traffic noise from the A1 but this really wasn’t a problem unless the wind was in a particular direction and we were at the far end of the garden. Even then, the views more than compensate, and it was extremely convenient having the A1 nearby for quick journeys. Parking right outside. We liked the different seating areas outside to catch morning and evening sun. The whole development was well maintained and quiet while we were there. The cottage was well equipped and the owner even provided a dog crate, as well as high chair, toys etc for younger visitors. The bathroom would be really practical for those with young children as well - too late for us! Utility room with good sink, washing machine, drier and extra space. Masses of helpful suggestions for things to do in the area - we managed Lindisfarne, Bamburgh, Cragside, Dunstanburgh, Alnwick, beach walks with the dog, and a day in Edinburgh, taking the train from Berwick which is only a few miles away. It seems mean only to give a 9 for the category ‘Comfort and Equipment’ when we enjoyed ourselves so much. There were just two points which prevented a 10, both of which might not matter to other holidaymakers in any case. The layout of the twin en-suite shower room meant it was a slightly tight squeeze for some adults to use the basin there, though of course this wouldn’t be a problem if children or teenagers are using the room. The double en-suite shower room and the bathroom were both super, and the double bedroom a very generous size. The other detail was the depth of the sofas in the living room, which two of us found made it difficult to sit comfortably for long. But, again, that might be down to personal preference. All in all a great cottage and I would have to say the most thoughtful and helpful owner from all our cottage holidays over the years. Thank you!
