The cottage is well restored & in a lovely setting if you like remoteness, but over-priced and not up to the 4 star rating it is given. It could be fabulous, with a little thought & proactivity. The manager was responsive to issues we highlighted, but they should be attended to before guests arrive - you don't want to spend your holiday messaging and being around to receive items ordered. We found things like a towel rail missing in the bathroom, with the screws where it should have been and other holes where something had been but not replaced nor the holes plugged - it needs TLC. The lounge is too full of seating for a cottage for 4 (it could seat 11 0r 12), plus stored redundant outdoor cushions + a selection of heaters and fans - all of which detract from what could be a really good property. The kitchen table is miniscule for 4 people to eat , but there would be plenty of space in the living room for a proper table if surplus items were got rid of - it seems like nothing is ever thrown away, but damaged/missing items are not checked for, or replaced - hence the mishmash of crockery we found and a lack of glasses + a frying pan I would not use. The laundry room was used for storage and cluttered and dirty - not what you want for where you do your washing. There is clearly a problem with flies - but no fly screens; & vermin, but no 1/2 door that would allow ventilation without admitting rats/mice. There is outdoor seating but no shade provided. it is all half hearted. There is no mobile reception, nor land line - which makes you feel a bit vulnerable if there were to be an emergency If these items were attended to, it could be wonderful and I would go again I sent 2 pages of feedback to the manager when we left & have never had a reply, which is disappointing
