A converted field barn on the Duchy of Lancaster Estate with spectacular views towards the sea and Scarborough Castle.

A converted field barn on the Duchy of Lancaster Estate with spectacular views towards the sea and Scarborough Castle.

The stunning Blue Mountain Barn is found on the Royal Duchy of Lancaster Estate and commands spectacular views of the sea. What once was a field barn, the owners foresaw its hidden potential, and transformed the property into what it is today – a luxurious holiday home.

The barn is a seamless blend of old and new; it retains much of the original oak beams and trusses, which give such character to the abode. At the same time, it has been tastefully furnished with eloquent décor; the Yorkshire stone flooring, vaulted ceiling and oak worktops give the kitchen a natural Shaker-style milieu. The rest of the property is furnished with the same level of detail, boasting 6ft beds, an en-suite and a bath.

Standing detached and totally secluded, it has wide unbroken views of the Yorkshire Heritage Coastline and the horizon; an endless azure where sky meets sea. You may have to sit down, as it is utterly breathtaking.

Sandwiched by the coast and the North York Moors National Park, the location of this property is great for getting out and exploring. There’s excellent walking and cycling right from the doorstep, and nothing cools like an ocean breeze after a dose of adventure. Scarborough Castle is just one of many landmarks that lie in close proximity. Clearly, this property is a must for any who desires action in the day, values peace in the afternoon, and loves a view with a glass of wine at sunset.

Good location to visit scarborough and whitby areas. Spacious barn conversion in private position. Warm and cosy. Missed the wi fi though. Good views aided by excellent weather for time of year.
