Cuthbert House, part of a terrace of 4 cottages, is an idyllic retreat, with cosy wood burner, dressing gowns and space for your furry friend!

Located in the pretty Coquet Valley, these six luxury cottages are situated on a historic site containing the Brinkburn Estate and Priory.
Four of these properties form a little terrace together, Bel House (ref UKC14) used to be the lodge keepers house and is attached to Mullins House (ref UKC2971). Cuthburt House (ref UK7026) and Blakey House (ref UK7027) are beside one another and are connected with a door, should you wish to book them together. These charming holiday retreats are period properties oozing character, with cosy wood burners and original features.

The Stables (ref UKC12) and Priory Cottage (ref UKC13) are down a private drive. Renovated throughout, The Stables nestles in a stunning setting next to the River Coquet adjacent to the priory and its grounds. It is ideal for family and friends. Priory Cottage is attached to The Stables, a cosy property sleeping two people with its own entrance and seating area. Retaining much charm and character, it’s the perfect cottage for couples. The terrace of four properties is also suitable for family or friends, with its own south-facing gardens and separate entrance. Along with the barns and some outbuildings, they make up Brinkburn Home Farm, where the owner’s office and home is located.

The cottages each provide complimentary dressing gowns, toiletries and welcome packs, making your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. They are set within 35 acres of private woodland and countryside, with access to woodland walks directly from the door and river fishing, 500 yards away and charged at £20 per day. Dedicated off road parking is available for each property.

These unusual, historical properties provide the perfect getaway for families and friends, and celebration packages for birthdays and anniversaries are available, including a private chef, pampering and beauty packages, all bespoke, on request and at cost arranged directly with the owner. The priory is managed by English Heritage and is open between 10am and 5:30pm Thursday - Monday between Easter and October. When it’s closed, guests are welcome to wander the grounds at their leisure.
Located in the heart of Northumberland, Brinkburn Cottages are perfect for exploring the Coquet Valley, the Dark Skies of the National Park, the coast with beautiful golden beaches, many castles and historic landmarks. Beach 8 miles. Shop 2¾ miles, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Following months of stressful work environment for both myself and my partner, we decided finally to take a break. We were travelling from Leicester and were expecting a 3 to 3.5 hour journey. We were delayed leaving Leicester due to work commitments and finally started off at around 5.30pm. We didn’t stop at services to avoid arriving at the destination when it was too dark. After 2 traffic incidents during our journey which caused further delays we finally arrived at Brinkburn around 10.30pm - it was pitch black and a rural location - no street lamps. Our booking confirmation advised that the keys would be left in the door. After finally finding the cottage there were no keys in the door!!! We looked everywhere and even on other doors and near the site office. No one was on site. We consulted our booking confirmation and found 3 telephone numbers, 2 of which were emergency contact numbers. We rang all numbers repeatedly. No answer!!! We discovered that one of windows did not shut properly. At that time of night we were left with little choice but to try accessing the property through that window, after all, we were expected - all the lights in the property were on and we could see a welcome basket through this window. Once we were in, we just unpacked the car. We continued ringing the emergency numbers but again with no answer we had to call it a day. Next morning we tried calling again - no answer. At this point we also realised we were limited in where we can go as we couldn’t secure the property if we left to go site seeing!! We decided not to venture too far away and had to cart our belongings with us when we left - after all we needed to shop for food supplies for our stay. We were also anxious in the cleanliness of the property. We saw cobwebs that wet so big that they could have come from the spray can. We spent all of the following day at the cottage as we couldn’t venture too far out without the key. At this point the broadband also failed so we were without internet. On Monday we made the assumption that as it was a normal weekday, someone would come to the site office so we decided to go out. When we got back no-one had been to site. Tuesday was our checkout morning. People turned up to the site office when we were leaving. Needless to stay we were appalled with the service, lack of emergency communication, the restrictions we faced due to not being left keys to the property and cleanliness. It was a complete nightmare.
