After many owners, the property later fell in to the hand of Thomas Bowerman, who entertained guests such as Henry VII in the house In the early 18th-century, Brook House underwent a full rebuild and was later sold to Henry Howe.Again many owners passed, before coming in to the possession of the Seely family. Many famous visitors that have entered this delightful property, include Winston Churchill, Lloyd George, the Astor’s, the Prince of Wales (Edward VII) and Queen Mary. One of the most famous visitor’s during Charles Seely’s ownership was Garibaldi, the Italian General and politician.During World War II the house was requisitioned by the War Office, where it housed the Canadian soldiers. After the war ended, the house was converted into flats, but today is one wonderfully large property all under the same ownership.Westbrook is situated in the grounds with two other holiday properties and provides delightful accommodation for history enthusiasts looking to delve deep into the past of Brook House. This house is the perfect place to explore the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with family and friends, or simply relax in the living room and admiring the delightful views, with the wood burner radiating the room.
