Breathtaking views await at this beautiful house, tucked away just 3 miles from the market town of Skipton.

Yellison is a beautiful detached house situated within the 3000-acre Broughton Hall Estate. With four fabulous en-suite bedrooms, this is ideal for a large family or group of friends to enjoy a break in the countryside. There are spectacular views of the estate and the Yorkshire Dales from the house which is approached by a single track road. Wander through the grounds and explore the vast swathes of countryside and see the magnificent Broughton Hall. The Land Rover Experience offices are next to the house and experience days are offered (by direct arrangement with the owner), so why not challenge yourself to a drive along the tracks and obstacles on the estate.
After a great day out you will find a well-equipped kitchen with an electric range and double oven turning the chore of cooking into a pleasure. Enjoy your evening meal in the rustic dining room with its antique style dining table and chairs. Spend the rest of your evening in the spacious living room with original beams and a stone fireplace with a cosy wood burner. The subtle wall lights create a warm and friendly ambience, making it easier for you to relax.
Bedding down for the night will be a pleasure in one of the four beautiful bedrooms, three of which have a super kingsize bed. All have en-suite facilities for your privacy and comfort, so why not relax in the free-standing bath with a glass of your favourite wine.
During the warm summer months enjoy a barbecue on the patio whilst admiring the surrounding countryside. If you feel like dining out after an adventurous day out, Yellison is situated near the market town of Skipton where you will find a fine selection of restaurants and pubs serving local produce. The owner has thoughtfully provided a complementary welcome pack including wine, milk and a selection of delicious homemade cakes.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park is on the doorstep where you will find pretty villages situated amongst traditional farming landscapes. Yellison provides a perfect place to relax in rural peace and tranquillity and explore the surrounding area.

overall this is a spacious and well equipped property but things could be done to improve it further. We were amazed that the tv was so small for a relatively large room. Also the seating in sitting room could be considered cramped if the property fully occupied. The Land Rover experience whilst not being particularly intrusive, was something that we were aware of, especially as they wait at the side of property before venturing off on their travels. On this point we felt that the downstairs bathroom lacked privacy as only had a net curtain and with dark mornings and nights you did feel slightly exposed in there. A slated blind would be a much better option as would allow light in but if used correctly could also give more privacy. All the bedrooms were good, good size beds and bathrooms, no arguments over who had what as all pretty much the same. Showers all good too. Outside the fencing needs improving to make it dog proof, both our small dogs found it quite easy to nip through, so perhaps some mesh on there would help. Lastly the paving outside kitchen door was very very slippery!

This property is really only suitable for “weekenders” and smaller parties and not for eight adults staying for a week. The property faces north with magnificent views over the Yorkshire Dales, blighted only by the Land Rover Experience Centre buildings just some 100 yards away. Moreover, the vehicles used for the “experience” start right alongside the outdoor breakfast area, idling for minutes with the occupants overlooking the wall. The sitting room (with wood burning stove and plentiful supply of logs) has only comfortable seating for six persons. A library of books is to be found in the downstairs bedroom. Most of the bedrooms do not have either a mirror or any furniture in which to put clothes ( means living out of a suitcase for a week). The bedrooms all have radiators which were not individually adjustable ( jammed radiator valves) and had to be controlled by a wall thermostat which meant they were either cold or hot. The showerheads need some maintenance since water sprayed everywhere except where required. The stairs are fairly steep but the bottom step was not carpeted(?) and hence difficult to see, several guest stumbled and nearly fell as a consequence. The kitchen is less than generous in the provision of cooking pots and crockery for cooking for 8 people. Note that there is an induction hob which is a no-no for anyone with a pacemaker! On arrival, two bedrooms had no towels but this was quickly remedied by housekeeping. There was also a welcome pack which was gratefully appreciated. This property could be wonderful if more attention was made to some of the noted shortcomings and essential maintenance undertaken where appropriate.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Dear Bob - Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at Yellison. We take on board all feedback to ensure we improve the experience for our guests. Yellison is a traditional cottage and does have some quirky features. The bottom step on the staircase is stone, and is therefore a different depth to the wooden stairs on the rest of the staircase. We found that when it was carpeted a number of guests would trip or take a misstep, assuming it to be the same depth as the rest of the stairs. It is now uncarpeted to ensure it’s visible to guests and hopefully avoid any accidents. The Landrover Experience is noted on our online cottage description, so hopefully guests are aware of it when they book their stay with us. I will look into the description to ensure this is clear. Guests regularly use and enjoy it. We appreciate your detailed comments regarding furniture and kitchen utensils. We have taken those all on board and will make the necessary improvements to ensure Yellison meets the expectations of future guests. We are keen to continually improve and make this a fabulous destination for guests and so your comments will help us achieve this goal. Best wishes Broughton Hall Estate.
