Completely renovated in April 2021, Churchfield Cottage offers the best of comfort, flexibility and quality for a family of eight or a group of friends and is conveniently located within this quaint and relaxed estuary village. The owners have redesigned the accommodation so that the lovely estuary views can be appreciated from the master bedroom and open plan living area. There are four double bedrooms, two with zip and link super kingsize beds and all with beautiful en-suite shower rooms which benefit from a dual fuel heating system. On the first floor the beautifully simple and modern kitchen offers all the expected appliances including induction hob and oven, an integrated microwave, dishwasher and a coffee machine so you can brew up a tasty espresso or latte while you enjoy the view! There is a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer and a separate toilet on the first floor. Outside there is a private and enclosed patio garden with garden furniture, a barbecue and a raised decking area where you can make the most of the property’s location.
Positioned just yards from the waterside and an excellent restaurant and pub, Churchfield Cottage is perfectly positioned for Appledore’s lovely quay which benefits from gorgeous views out towards Instow. Instow can be easily reached by car or simply by taking the ferry and enjoy the quiet inlet with sand dunes and a sandy beach along with a selection of pubs, restaurants and the excellent John’s of Instow delicatessen. Back in Appledore there are plenty of quaint village streets which host a wide range of cafés, public houses, and boutique shops - the perfect place to simply wander and take in the surroundings and traditional fisherman’s cottages.
The historic port town of Bideford is just 2 miles away and offers a taste of traditional North Devon life with its weekly pannier market and of course has all the usual town facilities such as a large supermarket and high street. The sandy beach of Westward Ho! with its great views out towards Lundy Island which can be visited on a day trip is popular with surfers, windsurfers and beach lovers alike and is just over 2 miles away. The amazing beaches (some of the best in the UK) like Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Croyde are all within easy reach by car.
There are plenty of local attractions and amenities nearby including Northam Golf Course, horse riding stables, an indoor swimming pool, fishing, sailing and water-skiing facilities. Family attractions include the Big Sheep and Milky Way theme parks, Dartington Crystal Factory, Tapeley Park, and the Tarka Trail, which is popular with walkers, runners and cyclists and follows a disused railway line all the way to Barnstaple and Torrington in the opposite direction. There is also the South West Coast Path which offers in North Devon alone, 90 miles of walks with amazing and dramatic coastal views.     The cottage is in a fantastic location with spectacular views over the estuary and to Instow. The cottage is well equipped and suited all three generations perfectly. We had a small issue with the water but this was extremely quickly resolved by the caretaker and owner who responded immediately. Appledore is a traditional fishing village with numerous places to eat in or takeaway and in close proximity to spectacular beaches at Westward Ho! And Staunton Sands and of course Instow. We have no hesitation in recommending this cottage. The Wyatt family August 2021
