A exceptional converted chapel featuring stained glass windows and ornate ceilings, a unique holiday home for a large get-together.

A exceptional converted chapel featuring stained glass windows and ornate ceilings, a unique holiday home for a large get-together.

A unique conversion of a Grade II listed 19th century Methodist chapel. Now forming a modern holiday home, it combines original character with contemporary living to great effect. Dales Chapel retains many original features including stained glass windows and an ornate ceiling to the striking second floor, open-plan entertainment area. Boasting a snooker table, home cinema area, two seating areas with multi-fuel stoves set in limestone fire surrounds, and bar area with built-in dishwasher, fridge and granite work surfaces, will you be able to tear yourself away? Conveniently there are blackout blinds in the master bedrooms, however they do not cover the arch shapes at the top. They are therefore more for privacy and will allow some light into the room.
Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Yorkshire Dales town of Middleton-in-Teesdale. On the edge of Middleton is England’s longest single drop waterfall, High Force, which can be reached on foot. Centrally placed for touring the Dales or you can drive to the Lake District in under an hour. The splendid scenery encourages all kinds of outdoor pursuits.
This charming market town is more like a big village, framed by the Pennine Fells and nestling beside the River Tees. Enjoy its delightfully old-fashioned and relaxing atmosphere, coupled with a wonderful place to stay, you may never want to leave. Dales Chapel is ideally suited for small business strategy residentials and off-site meetings. A laptop can be connected to the projector and large screen for management meetings. Details of caterers can be provided if required.

We booked our stay at Springfield House / Dales chapel about 14 months before the special birthday arrived, and Sam kindly provided recommendations enabling us to book venues in advance of our arrival. Thank you for the welcome pack, Lesley’s birthday present, and for such a clean and well-equipped place to stay. We were joined by family members of all ages from almost 2yrs to well past retirement age, and all found the facilities to be ideal. The games / cinema room was very well used as was also the sauna. We did have a problem with the cinema equipment, but within an hour of our plea for help Tarnya arrived (Sam was away) and spent a couple of hours on the phone to Sam trying to sort the problem. The next day Sam came and had another go but concluded a return visit would be necessary. Sam & Mark finally fixed the issue after some crawling around in the loft and replacement parts. These things do happen occasionally, but we couldn’t have asked for more in terms of effort and expedience in resolving the problem. Thank you, Sam, Mark and Tarnya for helping to make our stay so enjoyable at the Chapel.

Response on behalf of the Owner; I’m so pleased you all enjoyed your stay at the chapel Les, and thank you for your patience and understanding that occasionally, things do go wrong that are beyond our control and immediate fix. I’m pleased we managed to resolve the issues during your stay and that it didn’t impact on your enjoyment. We are thrilled that you had a memorable time for Lesley’s birthday celebrations.

Very striking and beautiful building in a very nice village. Local chip shop was excellent. Loads of room and all very nicely decorated. Snooker table and facilities were faultless and the size of the kitchen and dining area was ideal as we had 13 including a baby. Local Co-op very close and convenient. High Force waterfall close by and well worth visiting. Beds were comfy, kitchen very well equipped. Baths comfortable and luxurious. Sauna brilliant. Only downsides really on the holiday worth a mention were, No rear garden Poor Wi-Fi reception.....not ideal with 4 teenagers and PS4s etc. Surround sound on main tv only works on one speaker Could get stuffy in warm weather due to the design of the windows in the main living areas, or lack of completely in the main bathroom for example. Very noisy for those sleeping on the first floor if people upstairs or using the stairs.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: Thanks for your kind review Danny. We have recently upgraded the wi-fi to BT Infinity so we will check the reception as it should be a lot better than it sounds. We will check the configuration of the surround sound speakers as again they and the amp are new, so we appreciate the feedback from someone who has been there on a day to day basis and not just checking settings as we do on a changeover. Regarding the layout of the main floor bedrooms, there is an air / heat exchanger to freshen the air in the rooms each day, but again I will look at this in case we need to increase the hours per day its on. The listing mentions front garden only and this is due to the chapel being attached to the ministers house in days gone by, so no rear garden was possible - the downside of it being a chapel. Thank you again for the points you raised.
