Dartmouth House dates back to 1745, great for larger groups of family or friends, Gullivers World and Woburn Safari Park nearby.

Originally owned by the Earl of Dartmouth and situated in the Georgian market town of Olney, Dartmouth House has records dating back to 1745. A spacious and comfortable, stone-built roadside property with the owners’ home close by, it can sleep up to twelve people. It has retained many of the original features - such as flagstone, wooden and quarry-tiled floors, beamed ceilings and fireplaces. The large, south-facing, stone-walled garden is enclosed, and its beautiful aspects may be enjoyed in all types of weather when dining or relaxing on the large verandah, which is attached to the house.
Olney (situated on the River Great Ouse) is one of the most sought-after destinations in North Buckinghamshire and is within easy driving distance of Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire, in an area with beautiful rolling countryside and many country and town attractions. Olney is located in the middle of England and Dartmouth House is handily set along a main road just 20 minutes from junction 14 of the M1 - making London very accessible. Olney itself has tea rooms, antique shops, boutiques and the William Cowper Museum and are all within easy walking distance of the property. A few minutes’ drive leads to Woburn Abbey, Castle Ashby and Bletchley Park. There is plenty to keep children entertained - from Gullivers World and Woburn Safari Park to the popular Whipsnade Zoo. For the more energetic, there are vast areas of outstanding walking and cycling country, including Salcey Forest and Emberton Park. Milton Keynes offers a different experience with its cinemas, excellent shopping, the Milton Keynes Theatre (the most popular theatre outside London) and a huge choice of sporting activites including the Snowdome. Shops 50 yards, pub 20 yards.

Dartmouth House was on a busy and noisy road. Not a very welcoming property- vomit outside front door!Only heating in lounge was if you lit the wood burning stove. Although a beautiful antique, the dining table was impractical. We spent all our time in the kitchen. Parking was awkward.

Response on behalf of the Owner; It is a shame that you did not research our beautiful house before you booked as it very clearly says online that we are on a busy road, (which does actually go silent at night). The windows are double glazed and the house is tranquil inside, especially as the house dates from 350 years ago and has stone walls with depth of 2 foot. The ‘vomit’ outside the front door was actually on the public pavement and 3 metres away from the front door. It was not there when the house was serviced in the morning of your Friday arrival and happened in between that time and your arrival that afternoon at 5pm. Furthermore, it looked more like a member of the public had dropped a packed up lunch or something along those lines. You did not report this to us at any point but my husband saw this on the pavement whilst he was out walking Saturday morning and returned to clear the debris up. We do our best to ensure that the public pavement outside the house is kept as presentable as possible, considering members of the public walk by. There are 25 radiators throughout the house and a woodburner in the lounge. This is more than enough heating to maintain a lovely cosy house. Indeed we left the heating on for you all day and all night. There is a beautiful antique table in the dining room but it is certainly not impractical. Our guests love having something special and different. You just need to embrace something unique and appreciate how hard our team work to give guests an experience they don’t have at home. It is in a fabulous dining room for entertaining but if you wanted to stay in the kitchen then that was your own choice. We have a driveway for parking, so we are unsure why this was awkward for you. Your very poor review score for value also concerns us as you stayed in low season when prices are very incredibly low. You did indeed depart here smiling and happy when you gave back the key to us and we did not hear from you over the entire weekend at all. This means that our aim of providing a clean, safe and warm house with everything a guest could need, for a comfortable stay, was provided. We hope that you enjoyed the huge, gorgeous cake that we left for you in the kitchen from Marks & Spencer; we usually get a thank you of appreciation from our guests.
