Frosterley is a popular village on the banks of the River Wear amidst the glorious North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The surrounding area is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts with a network of public footpaths, great for walking and cycling and enjoying the stunning scenery. There are many sites of historic and geological interest, including the famous Frosterley Marble. Frosterley station is on the heritage Weardale Railway. The village offers a good range of amenities including a general store, newsagent, Post Office, village hall, two traditional pubs and a fish and chip shop. The charming market towns of Stanhope and Wolsingham are equidistant from Frosterley and both provide a good range of facilities. The annual Wolsingham Agricultural Show on the first weekend in September (established in 1763), is one of the oldest shows in the country. Stanhope also has an annual show.
