Lying on the edge of a golf course, this property is located a few hundred yards from the River Esk.

In an area of sparkling beauty, High Eskholme Cottage lies at the heart of Eskdale Estate which is set within the peaceful Eskdale Valley. It is a charming, detached, mullioned-windowed stone holiday cottage with a secluded garden on the edge of the pretty golf course and has been restored to offer all amenities whilst retaining the ‘cottage’ charm. The Estate is unique in having so much contained within one boundary - guests can enjoy the challenge of a professionally designed golf course, the wildness of the Muncaster Fell, the peace of the River Esk and the beauty of the woods, all within a few hundred yards of the front door. Golf is at a discounted fee and there are limited fishing permits for anglers. Ravenglass is about 2 miles, where the narrow gauge steam railway chugs its scenic route along Eskdale, and historic Muncaster Castle, which has lovely gardens and a renowned rare owl sanctuary, is about 1 mile. Shop about 3 miles, pub about 2 miles.

A fantastic cottage, albeit a little remote from ‘central Lake District’ activities, which we knew on booking. A fantastic location for the western Lakes and in particular Eskdale and its surrounds... Unfortunately we experienced some issues, hopefully one-off to us, with boiler which were unfortunately unable to be resolved during our week long stay. This happening during a wet and cool spell caused us some issues. We also had oven electrical tripping issues but these were fixed next day. The management team did what they could under the circumstances, so we still enjoyed our stay overall.

Well equipped cottage in the middle of nowhere. It’s very secluded but being in the western part of the lakes there aren’t many busy places. But if you like walking ,wildlife and peace, this is a very good place.
