Beautiful 18th-century farmhouse with established gardens and views over the River Wye.

Beautiful 18th-century farmhouse with established gardens and views over the River Wye.

Lancaut Farmhouse is in a fabulous location just outside Chepstow, an ideal location for those looking for peace and tranquillity. With views over the River Severn there is lots of wildlife to be seen from the beautiful established gardens with their wildflowers, ponds and its very own maze.

Lancaut Farmhouse comprises a kitchen with electric Aga, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, microwave, leading to a large conservatory with a dining table and fabulous views of the river. There is also a formal dining room with double aspect, formal living room with open fire, basement toilet, sitting room with Smart TV, open fire and piano.

There are two staircases in the property, to the first floor there is a double room with en-suite shower, master bedroom with four poster bed and En-suite bathroom with bath, shower cubicle, urinal, bidet and toilet, a twin bedroom with en-suite shower, to the second floor there is a twin room, separate bathroom with free standing bath and shower cubicle, double bedroom with en-suite shower.

Outside there are large gardens with unfenced small ponds (so not suitable for children under 12), and plenty of off-road parking. There are plenty of sights to see in Chepstow; visit the castle, the oldest in Wales and a great way to spend the day. Another great historic sight is Tintern Abbey- there are some great views to be had over the Wye Valley from here or simply take a stroll along the river. Offa’s Dyke is not far from the property and there are some lovely walks to be had there also, or for a fun day out Chepstow also has a racecourse. Chepstow has an array of shops, coffee shops and restaurants. Whatever your plans just enjoy this opulent property and its beautiful gardens.

We were among a group of friends staying at Lancaut Farmhouse in late April and were very impressed with both the house and the beautiful, well tended garden full of spring flowers - not to mention the fantastic views across green fields towards the River Wye from the grounds and the light and spacious conservatory. The house sits high up in a lovely, peaceful situation at the end of a no-through lane, with walks through local nature reserves and to the old ruined church by the river straight from the door. The grand piano in one of the two living rooms was a bonus - perfect to accompany our pre-dinner drinks! Our only niggles were that there wasn't a corkscrew for the wine, more teatowels and rubbish bags are needed for large parties, and some information about local medical services, etc. would be useful. However, the house is only a few miles from Chepstow with all amenities, and within easy reach by car from such attractions as Symonds Yat, Tintern Abbey and the Forest of Dean railway. We would highly recommend this property.
