This large detached cottage stands in a superb sheltered location with far-reaching views over the countryside.

Limekiln Cottage is tucked away along a private farm road in the heart of Hampshire, peacefully remote and yet easily accessible via main transport links. Petersfield station is a 15-minute drive, and London can be reached in just over an hour by car or train. This super, detached holiday retreat within the South Downs National Park is surrounded by miles of footpaths across beautiful countryside and through picturesque local villages such as East Meon, and West Meon where there is an ever-popular pub. In easy walking or driving distance from the cottage there is a lovely pub, which is opposite the famous Broadhalfpenny Down cricket pitch where cricket was founded.

Newly refurbished, Limekiln Cottage offers plenty plenty of light and space. There is a large dining room and separate living room with a cosy wood burner, and an additional smaller TV room. The kitchen is new and fully equipped, and there is a downstairs utility room and shower room. Upstairs there are four beautifully designed bedrooms and a family bathroom with separate shower and bath. The cottage is situated next to an ancient woodland with a large open garden, small orchard and plenty of outdoor dining space. The perfect spot for an evening barbecue watching the sun go down.

The bustling local market town of Petersfield has a variety of eateries and boutique shops, whilst a 40-minute drive will take you to the cathedral cities of Winchester (home to King Arthur’s Round Table) and Chichester. Either makes a great day out, with cobbled pedestrianised streets, festivals, theatres and cinemas. Goodwood House, which is open to the public and famous for its motor and horse racing, is nearby. In the local area there are various National Trust homes, including Jane Austen’s House and Gilbert White’s House.

Portsmouth is quick and easy to get to and holds many attractions such as the Spinnaker Tower, historic ships, a D-Day museum, waterside dining, designer shopping outlets and cinemas. The ferry to the Isle of Wight leaves from Portsmouth Harbour and makes a great day trip. There are excellent golf courses in the district, incredible walks and bikes along the South Downs Way and attractions such as Marwell Zoo, Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World, all within easy driving distance. The beach at Hayling Island is only 11 miles away and is well known for its sailing and water sports. Beach 11 miles. Shop, pubs and restaurants within 1 mile.

Very well equipped , peaceful and comfortable cottage with lovely welcome pack. Ideal if you love walking with a dog. The dog friendly pubs we ate in including the one circa 15 minutes walk from the cottage were all welcoming and served great food. You can also watch deer, pheasants and squirrels from the cottage windows.

If you want peace & quiet then this is the place. Away from the hustle & bustle of every day life. Cottage was beautifully clean & comfortable. Felt at home the minute we walked through the door. A car is needed really to get out & about as the cottage really is secluded but places of interest are available in any direction a short drive away. Would recommend.

We had a lovely week at Limekiln Cottage. The house was spotlessly clean and very well appointed. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, wonderful for long walks with the dog. The Bat and Ball pub was close by and welcomed our party (and the dog). Limekiln Cottage is an ideal retreat from city life. A great place to relax and slow down. Conveniently located for major roads and a short drive from local shops, it was ideal for day trips to Winchester and Petersfield (with its great bookshops). The only negative we could find was the internet access...a bit slow...but this was made clear to us at the outset (and is entirely understandable given the location). It was good for us to revert to some of life's pleasures, including real books! Would thoroughly recommend this property.

We had a great Christmas break at Limekiln. We really appreciated the Christmas tree that was there when we arrived and overall the property was spotless and had plenty of space for five adults. The location is fantastic: really quiet, with a short walk across the fields to the Bat & Ball pub (which we did on a couple of occasions) and we imagine it's a beautiful place to stay in the summer in particular. The downside of such a rural location is the slow internet connection - which we knew about before we arrived, but it did take a while to adjust to!
