Situated on the shoreline in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with panoramic sea views of Lindisfarne and within easy reach of Bamburgh and Alnwick.

Situated between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Bamburgh, on Northumbria’s Heritage Coast and in the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is the spectacular setting which makes Lindisfarne Bay Mill House special. Set on the water’s edge on Lindisfarne Bay with views of Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle all around. This glorious property was crafted from an 18th-century millhouse which is believed to have been the site of the mill used by the monks on Holy Island for many centuries. Today, the exterior preserves the charm of the older building, while the interior provides very generous living spaces with a spectacular outlook from both the beautifully furnished sitting room and the conservatory. Full of character with original beams and designer fabrics, the bedrooms are all en-suite, and two have views over Lindisfarne Bay. The property is also suitable for mobility impaired guests, with a ramp, wheelchair friendly doorways and a wet room with grab rail and shower seat (on request).

There is an abundance of activities nearby and numerous lovely sandy beaches. Bamburgh is 9½ miles away with its 4½-mile long beach, and 6 miles from Cocklawburn beach. Don’t miss a visit to tidal Holy Island to discover something of the history and magic. Seahouses, 25 minutes, for boat trips to the Farne Islands to see puffins and seals. Discover castles at Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh, Warkworth, Chillingham and Alnwick, where you will also find Alnwick Gardens, or the quaint villages of Ford and Etal, and where there is a miniature railway and a flour mill. Even Edinburgh and Newcastle are only an hour away by train. Or relax and stay in the cottage to watch the myriad of sea birds just a few steps from the window. Beach 6 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

I would recommend the house but one concern was the windows in two of the bedrooms which could be a danger for children as they could be opened wide with a sheer drop to the garden below. The garden was very disappointing, the lawn was in need of cutting and the garden furniture was old and dirty also the barbecue was not fit for purpose, it was covered with a dirty cover which revealed a very dirty barbacue which we would certainly not have used to cook food!! The images shown on the website show a very well looked after garden.
