A stylishly converted barn, renovated into a studio and surrounded by rolling countryside with an abundance of wildlife. Little Barn is a perfect couple’s retreat!

This beautifully presented, single-storey, detached barn conversion, adjacent to the owner’s home, is located in an idyllic setting, overlooking extensive lawned gardens and rolling countryside where ponies and sheep graze, and there is part of the River Cerne at the bottom of the garden. This superb studio is a relaxing retreat which has been thoughtfully and lovingly designed in carefully co-ordinated colour schemes. The open plan living space is cleverly sectioned with a curtain to divide the bedroom area. There are bi-fold doors across the width of the property, providing lots of natural light. Open them up to the private garden with patio and garden furniture, and feel at one with nature; there is plenty of wildlife to observe including buzzards, pheasants, kingfishers, deer and birds as well as the grazing sheep and horses in the distance.
The pretty village of Cerne Abbas in the Cerne Valley is worth a visit, with its well-known giant carved out in chalk. The vibrant town of Dorchester is 2 miles away and has so much to do, with dinosaur and military museums, an olde worlde picture house, swimming pool, and shops, pubs and restaurants, many of which are in the charming Brewery Square. There are many other lovely country pubs nearby serving fine food and real ales, and the nearest pub is 200 yards away in a quiet location with a beer garden.
For walkers, there are plenty of scenic walks in this popular part of Dorset. You’ll also find plenty of local attractions nearby including Minterne House and Gardens, renowned for its magnificent magnolia. Other popular gardens within easy driving distance include Mapperton House and Gardens, Kingston Lacy House, Knoll Gardens, Compton Acres, Forde Abbey, Kingston Maraude and Athelhampton House.
The popular, traditional seaside resort of Weymouth is 8 miles away with its Georgian seafront beach and 3-mile esplanade, and there are two RSPB reserves at Lodmoor and Radipole with nature trails and plenty of wildlife including swans, warblers and grebes. Ringstead Bay beach, known for its geology, fossils and wildlife, is also worth a visit, and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site offers spectacular views and natural rock formations such as Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. With so many picturesque villages to visit, you’ll never be stuck for a place to enjoy a spot of lunch or a cream tea! Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
