A short drive from the coast, and in the heart of the Broads, this delightful thatched cottage makes a wonderful holiday base.

Low Farm Cottage is a charming, Grade II listed, thatched property which was built in 1732, and was originally three farm cottages. Over the years, it has been altered into one detached cottage that oozes character, and there is a feature illuminated, glass-covered well in the conservatory. It lies adjacent to the owners’ home in the village of Blofield with its village pub and shops, in the heart of the Broads. There is also a 9-hole golf course, driving range and a crazy golf course for children in the village. The historic city of Norwich is 8 miles away with its famous cathedrals, museums, theatres, cobbled streets, timber-framed buildings and array of cafes and shops, and the lovely, unspoilt beaches of the North Norfolk and East Coast are just a short drive. The many places to explore include Strumpshaw Fen, an RSPB reserve which is a delight for walkers and nature lovers, and Fairhaven Gardens, 3 miles. There are also several National Trust properties in the region and three heritage railways: The North Norfolk Railway, The Mid Norfolk Railway and the Bure Valley Railway. Hire a boat at Wroxham or Brundall and spend a relaxing day exploring the waterways. If you wish to travel a little further afield, Cambridge, famous for its universities, and the market towns of Beccles and Bungay in Suffolk are well worth seeing. Walking, bird watching, fishing (seasonal, licence required) and cycling are all available locally. Shop and pub 550 yards, restaurant 1½ miles.

Had 3 nights over new year, lovely house. Warm and comfy, we ate in every night and found sitting round kitchen table a bit squashed, we were 6 small to medium size adults and definitely not enough space, table needs to move into the next room (2nd living room) and a small breakfast table in kitchen only. Basic amenities in village but lots of things to see and do just a short drive away. There is a nice dog walk from house. Lovely welcome tray, marmelade, tea, coffee, biscuits and wine. Plenty of towels and shower gel supplied, beds very clean and comfy, plenty of hot water too

A great starting off point for the whole of Norfolk exploring. There is so much to see we only managed half of it in two weeks.

We absolutely loved the cottage, it was by far the nicest we have hired. The cottage was beautifully clean, well equipped and very spacious and comfortable. The flowers and marmalade was a very welcome and appreciated gift. The owners Bob and Anne were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The only disappointment was the lack of a decent shop and pub within walking distance however the nearest supermarket, farm shop and many other pubs are within a short drive. We had a lovely week.

Low Farm Cottage was excellent, although the ground floor bedroom was a little chilly initially. Many places of interest are within very easy driving distance. Pubs we would recommend are The Plough Inn, Marsham (close to Blickling Hall), The Fur and Feathers (Woodforde Brewery tap room), and The Shoulder of Mutton, Strumpshaw. The last one is handy for the RSPB at Strumpshaw, also well worth a visit.
