Medley’s Cottage is the perfect getaway for a family of four, or two couples, wishing for the peace, quiet and clean air of deep Devon countryside.

Nestled down an unmade lane sits Lower Winsford Farm and these four converted barns that once belonged to a nearby stately home, all set within the owner’s grounds. Medley’s Cottage (ref UKC2116) and The Garden House (ref UKC3634) are perfect for couples or families, whilst Ostler’s Cottage (ref UKC3635) and Verbena Cottage (ref UKC3636) offer the perfect couples escape. With central heating, heat-recovery ventilation, solar hot water and electricity, you’ll be warm and cosy in these beautifully-appointed dwellings. All have contemporary, luxurious and well-equipped living spaces, three of which have French doors that open out onto a private patio and garden area, the perfect spot to enjoy a lazy breakfast. From Medley’s Cottage and Verbena Cottage you can soak up the views of the woods and lake. Each property has its own garden and garden furniture, and private, allocated parking, but there are spaces for up to 10 cars on-site.
Beyond the private gardens guests can explore a further 18 acres of gardens and grounds. Why not stroll round the large water lily fringed lake, relax in the summerhouse on the south shore or walk more than a mile of paths alongside the stream and through the woods. A rowing boat is available for guests to use on the lake. You can observe the wildlife from the strategically placed hide and vantage points. Barn owls, kingfishers and herds of deer are regular sights, but you can also see grass snakes, badgers, foxes and no end of bird species, some quite rare. On clear winter nights you’ll be astonished by the dark sky, which provides a fantastic view of stars which can’t be seen in other parts of the UK, due to light pollution.
There are lovely country, woodland and coastal walks and for cycling enthusiasts, the nearby Tarka Trail is not to be missed, and Dartmoor National Park is a must for nature lovers. Golf, surfing, fishing and horse riding are all on offer in this stunning location. For family fun, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks are close by and there are numerous National Trust properties in the area. Beach 17 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

    The property was as described and in beautiful condition with comfort and cleanliness being at the forefront. We would definitely visit again. One negative would be that the under counter fridge was a little on the small side for two couples sharing as we were. Meant we had to go shopping for food!
