Tucked away enough for a private retreat but in a great position for exploring.

Tucked away enough for a private retreat but in a great position for exploring.

There is much to love about this cottage, which dates back to the 1800s and still boasts original flooring in parts, along with original feature fireplace in the living room. Thoughtfully decorated and furnished throughout to ensure both style and comfort, whether you are enjoying a glass of wine by the fire, soaking in the lovely deep roll-top bath, or reading on the lavender surrounded patio, you are sure of a relaxing break. With an acre of garden, peace and quiet are ensured, but if you are yearning for more action you will find much to see and do in the area.

Within the nearby village lies Deopham Green Airfield, a site of historical significance that was once home to 452nd Bomb Group, which flew the B-17 Flying Fortress in WWII. A war memorial and evidence of the former runways remain today, making this worth a visit for anyone interested in this period of history. The immediate area also boasts fishing, horse riding and clay pigeon shooting too. The local pretty market towns of Hingham and Wymondham offer a host of boutique and artisan places to eat, shop and drink and a little further afield you will find much to see and do in the medieval city of Norwich. Coast lovers should venture a little further too and discover why this location has you best placed to explore. Closer to home you will find horse riding as well as clay pigeon shooting.

Just an hour in any direction will find you enjoying a variety of coastal treats. Head west and go to Holkham beach, or visit Wells-next-the-Sea, with its famous quay. Head east for all the fun of the fair in Great Yarmouth or visit the pier at Cromer. And, for other waterways you can be in Wroxham, the heart of the Norfolk Broads, in under 40 minutes too. Add in Banham Zoo, Thetford Forrest, Go Ape, Bewilderwood and a host of other activities too and you will be so pleased that you chose charming Pettingalls Cottage for your Norfolk retreat. What a treat!

Excellent cottage if you are looking to have a peaceful break for 2. Very cosy with it's log fires and very nice surrounding countryside for walks or bike rides (mainly flat). Also great for a barbeque outside if the weather is good! We visited a nearby pub which was also excellent, and it is only a short drive to the shops if you need supplies. Overall a very pleasant stay and we would definitely think of coming back again, maybe in the winter to enjoy those log fires. We only marked down the "Equipment" as we couldn't get the toaster to work (in case the owner wants to check this). We did manage to survive without toast of course :) Would thoroughly recommend.

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. Sorry to hear the toaster wasn't working we had not been informed of this so rest assured a new one has been purchased and is in place.
