The perfect place for a couple to enjoy a relaxing holiday, this restored stable is an ideal base from which to enjoy Sussex and its attractions.

In a picturesque rural setting surrounded by woodland and fields, is this beautifully restored, old farm stable. Originally on a hop farm, this detached property, situated within the owners’ grounds, is the perfect base for couples seeking some rest and recuperation. Enjoy walks from the doorstep and recharge your batteries. The picturesque village of Brede is close by and nestles in the rolling 1066 countryside. The Cinque Port town of Rye is 7½ miles, where visitors can explore the historical cobbled streets and narrow passages. Enjoy browsing amongst the art and photographic galleries, or relax with an afternoon tea. Winchelsea is another Cinque Port and very picturesque. Spot the egrets in the saltmarsh and the bitterns in the reed beds at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. In winter, you will see the circling lapwings. If its beach and sand dunes that inspire you, head to Camber for bracing walks in the winter along the beach, sunshine filled picnics amongst the dunes in the summer or learn how to kite surf. Hastings, with its beach launched fishing fleet and Jerwood Gallery, is another great day out. Castles, including Bodiam, and vineyards offering tastings of award-winning wines are also plentiful. Golf and fishing close by. Beach 7 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

This was our second stay at Pickdick Stable and the property was just as perfect as our last visit. The owners are very friendly and are on hand if you need them. The location is wonderful with plenty of wildlife to watch from the window. Just the place to relax and unwind.

We rented Pickdick Stable for two weeks at the end of July beginning of August. My husband and I were delighted by the cottage and its facilities, the warm welcome by Nick and the goodies very appreciated. The cottage is immaculately clean, bright and airy. We received a lovely surprise at how amazing the garden is, the pictures just don't do it justice. It is tranquil and private with fantastic views, a lovely place to sit and relax, with a patio, BBQ and comfortable sun loungers along with a dining table. Sarah kindly provided a change of linen after our first week which was again appreciated. Its a great base to explore the area including Rye which is literally a short drive away. After renting holiday cottages for the passed 40 years we both agree that Pickdick is definitely one of the best.

The cottage is in a stunning location and we were lucky enough to have some spring sunshine. The perfect getaway in a calm and cosy cottage. The hosts have equipped Pickdick stable excellently and everything is good quality, tasteful and immaculately clean. Loads to do around the area. Would recommend.

Great location and place to stay. Only a few minor points to drop the score. There were two dead flies that we found on arrival on the floor by the side of the bed. Considering it is winter, this was not really expected. Furthermore, there was a hair in the bath tub which again, lessens the score. Lastly, the washing powder for the laundry did not have enough for a wash. I understand that we can easily provide our own but at the same time it was expected to be there. The back door was also left unlocked before we arrived, even though the front was locked upon arrival. I appreciate that burglary is unlikely, but if it had happened - insurance would not have covered and we did not expect to have to check the back door beforehand. The owners were very pleasant. The location is amazing and the stable itself is really nicely done in side. It is comfortable and cosy and makes for a wonderful get away. Listening to the horses and birds in the morning/evening was a definite bonus.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Dear Simon, I’m sorry that Pickdick Stable wasn’t to the standard you should expect to find it on arrival. I work on Mondays so am unable to personally clean and check it myself. Thank you for your honest review and bringing it to my attention so that I can address the situation. Kind regards, Sarah.
