This superb holiday property is the ideal location from which to discover the New Forest, Portsmouth, Southampton, Lymington and the coastal resorts of Hampshire.

If your idea of a family holiday is exploring pine-scented forests and woods, cartwheels in the garden, day trips to the beach and quiet evenings by the fire, then look no further.

Situated at the bottom of a pebbled driveway, Pond Cottage is an eye-catching ‘cottage in the woods’ set away from the main road. A harmonious marriage of traditional design and contemporary luxuries, there’s a veneer of refinement in each and every room. The wood burner, underfloor heating and soft furniture add to the cottage’s luxury comforts, but it’s the warm, homely ambience that really makes you feel at ease.

Bright, light and with enough headroom for a BFG or two, the kitchen/dining room is this property’s salient feature. Over a well-equipped kitchen, chunky wooden beams hold up a high vaulted ceiling, whilst the dining area looks out onto the garden. Throw open the French doors and you’ll find a small patio area, a sociable setup that’s perfect for a tipple in good company come the evening, and for the early risers, keep your eyes peeled down the garden – deer can often be seen passing through the woods, along with an array of birds and the odd pheasant strutting by. A place of fairies and secret corners, little ones will love running around this magical garden.

The New Forest’s ponies are legendary. Friendly and free to roam, they can be seen throughout the national park, which is one of the largest areas of unenclosed forest and pastureland in the country. Outdoor enthusiasts won’t be short on things to do, as there’s also the popular port town of Lymington just 10 minutes away by car. Sailing is a popular pastime locally, and the town’s cobbled streets are lined with many a fine eatery, pub and boutique to try after a day spent out on the water.

Beamed living room with wood-burning stove in original fireplace, exposed brick wall and original washing copper. Three steps down to kitchen/dining area with TV, high vaulted beamed ceiling, exposed brick wall, wooden floor and French doors leading to terrace. Utility with toilet. Boot room. Double bedroom with en-suite Jack ‘n’ Jill shower room with toilet (also accessed from corridor). Steep stairs to first floor: Two double bedrooms, one with 5ft bed and TV. Single bedroom with pull-out single (for +1 child). Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.
