We have stayed at several cottages but this was the only one we said we would definitely return to. It's setting is one of pure countryside seclusion. It is completely private with no passing traffic or people, only views are of woodland, wild flower fields & the garden. The garden is large & enclosed, which was perfect for our miniature daschund to explore safely. It was equipped with sunloungers & a table for eating outside, which we did daily. An added luxury was a superb hot tub. The cottage itself is prestine, everything has been thought of & provided. The kitchen has a dining area & is well equipped if you fancy cooking. A welcome basket of milk, eggs, butter & a home made cake was waiting for us on arrival as was a warm welcome from Lizzie & the maintenance team who were re filling hot tub. (They came daily to check ph levels, impressive, & were very unobtrusive as they came early morning...great management team) We also loved the beautiful conservatory & the lounge which kept surprisingly cool on the hottest of days, we certainly didn't need to light the wood burner! Beds were super comfortable with excellent quality linen & ample towels for both the bathrooms & the hot tub. Local area was fabulous for walks & many of the pubs were dog friendly. However, we tended to stay put & enjoy the beautiful cottage & wonderful setting. Perfect holiday & would highly recommend.

The cottage was wonderful with a magnificent conservatory which was put to full use. The beds were very comfortable and having 2 bathrooms was excellent, as well as a downstairs cloakroom. The whole cottage was exceptionally clean and was welcoming. We were there for two weeks and at the end of the first week everything was cleaned, bedding changed even a soap we'd hardly used in one bathroom was replaced and the crockery in the dishwasher that we'd left for the evening was dealt with and everything put away. Excellent towels and bath towels - really large and with the heated towel rail they soon dried. The only things that dropped the score down from 10 for the overall rating was the taps in the bathrooms and the oven in the kitchen. The taps had a mind of their own - the water only came out slowly to start with and then suddenly without warning - shot out - not good if you were standing directly in front of it! A number of tops and trousers got changed to start with! Once you got the hang of it, you stood to one side and waited for it to settle. The only other criticism was the oven took a long time to heat up. However, as a bonus the washing machine was fun to use - it played a tune when the cycle had finished and lit up so you knew what setting it was on. A welcome pack awaited us including a home made cake which was very welcome. Just as a note of caution - the stairs are twisty but there are very solid hand rails on them so not too difficult to get up and down. Don't worry if you hear what sounds like gunfire - its an automatic firing machine the farmers use to scare off the birds. After a while you take no notice, but it was a bit annoying when still going around nine at night. The cottage has another house next door but otherwise it is isolated. If you want quiet and not being overlooked by near neighbours - this is the place for you. The nearest shops are only about 10 minutes drive away in Metheringham and everyone is very friendly and helpful . This is the place to come for a quiet getaway. Overall, a wonderful relaxing place to stay with plenty of places to visit. We shall certainly return.
