Dating back to the 1700s and affording breathtaking views across the valley, these award-winning former barns simply ooze character. Each of the three holiday cottages has its unique charm and offers a peaceful break away from the rigours of everyday life. Set in the grounds of the owners’ farmhouse B & B, each has its own patio area and the use of a shared adult games room with snooker table (under 16s strictly under adult supervision). Over 11/2 acres of grounds boast secluded sitting-out areas dotted around the duck pond. Ideally located for exploring the North York Moors National Park, the Heritage Coast and the many quaint little villages tucked away in the valleys. A leisurely 8 mile drive brings you to historic Whitby. In the glorious Esk Valley, near the NYM Steam Railway and Heartbeat villages of Grosmont and Goathland. We were due to stay at Red House Farm at Easter in B&B but the virus put paid to that, so when we took the decision to have a weekend break, it made absolute sense to book self catering at the Farm as it was in a beautiful part of the NY Moors, and one we hadn't visited before. The pre visit information from Sandra was excellent. She sent a number of videos which demonstrated how to access the facilities in the Hayloft; operate the wood-burning stove; the electrics etc. We were reassured by her e-mails which detailed the cleaning regime in respect of Covid-19, and how we could ensure our safety during our stay. The Hayloft had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and we enjoyed being in the heart of the farm and greeting the English Longhorns daily in the yard next door. The only reason I have given an overall score of 9 is because the Hayloft is open plan and, as I do not sleep very well, I was unable to get up and read without putting on all the lights and disturbing my husband. I suggested to Sandra a small bedside light would be useful. There were several walks from Glaisdale and the coast was only twenty minutes' drive away.

This 'cottage' is located on a farm on the North York Moor National Park. Sandra and Tom the owners are friendly and pedantic about the cleanliness and condition of the property. It more than meets Covid19 requirements. It's big enough for two people and we would describe it as cosy and quirky. Lots of interesting items on display in the property which makes it an interesting place to be. It's wonderfully quiet (except for the cockerel) with good access to local pub and village shop. Because its in the National Park there are lots of places to visit and the North Yorks Steam Railway is a couple of miles away. Swimming pool/sauna wasn't available because of Covid. We would certainly recommend it if you want a restful stay

Lovely place, lovely location if not a bit bleak on the moors. Owners very pleasant and polite. A little over priced for it’s size. A bit small and seating not ideal (no couch). Very little in the village, but great jumping off point to visit the moors, Whitby and Scarborough. A lot of the amenities unavailable due to Covid. Once everything is back to normal I would highly recommend it as the pool and gym will be open again and there will will be a lot more to do.
