If you are looking for a luxurious, stylish and stunningly presented property then look no further! Root Farm Cottage is a scenic, rural escape. Set in the heart of the Forest of Bowland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this detached beautifully presented holiday cottage has been lovingly converted with great attention to quality of fabrics and internal finishes, all co-ordinated by an interior designer to create a wonderfully ambient atmosphere. The property has two beautiful bedrooms, both well-equipped with charming en-suite facilities offering ideal accommodation and privacy for two couples holidaying together. The living room has a cosy wood-burning stove, creating a warm, relaxing and inviting area to rest tired feet after a day exploring. Two pets are also accepted at the property, and with plenty of walks available direct from the door, it is the perfect excuse to bring along your four legged friend. Sit out, relax and enjoy the beautiful lawned garden, providing an idyllic place to simply reflect on the surroundings. The owners have paid so much attention to detail to ensure you have everything you need for a peaceful and tranquil retreat. There’s no need to worry about amenities when you arrive as the owners provide the perfect welcome pack. On request and at cost, a meal cooked in the Puddleducks Tea Room can be ordered to eat in Puddleducks or to collect and take to your accommodation.

Root Farm Cottage forms part of the stunning Whitewell Estate, which is owned by Her Majesty the Queen in her capacity as the Duchy of Lancaster. The Queen last visited the estate in 2006 and it is known to be one of her favourite parts of the Duchy’s rural estates, so why not come and see why she loves this picturesque area so much. The cottage lies within walking distance of Dunsop Bridge, which is regarded to be the geographic centre of the United Kingdom. An ideal location with walks direct from the door. There are quiet lanes for cyclists and challenging off-road terrain for the more adventurous or for those who love to admire the wildlife, a wide selection of birds can be observed.

The cottage was remote but just what we wanted. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay Alison was extremely helpful and the welcome pack was perfect. The cottage was very clean and equipped with quality furnishings. Would definitely stay again. Martin Sue & Mark

This cottage is fabulous. It is by far the cleanest we have ever stayed in, and the furniture and decor are almost in show room condition; it's a real credit to Alison and her hard work. The welcome hamper was full of local goodies. The outside of the cottage is equally impressive and the photos do not do it justice. All the rooms are big and airy, and very relaxing. Everything you can think of is provided and of good quality. We had hot weather when we visited, but the thick curtain linings and huge wood burner suggest it would be cosy in any weather. The area is lovely, ideal for walkers and getting away from it all. We're not walkers, but found some easy strolls and the nearby river is lovely. There is not a lot to do nearby and the local roads are narrow and slow; we loved that but be prepared for some driving if you don't. It is right in the working countryside, so expect a little daytime noise, but there is no traffic sound and at night you could hear a pin drop. We came home really relaxed and would happily return to Lancashire and Root Cottage.

Very well appointed and excellently managed property with nice touches such as a generous welcome pack and really useful guidance from Alison who went the extra mile to make our stay all we hoped it would be. Straight 10s on all fronts with a single mark down from perfection on location as you need to accept you are in the middle of working farm country with some utilitarian barns in the near view and all else that goes with keeping the grass fertile for the sheep.
