These two semi-detached cottages (refs UKC2168 and UKC2169) have been lovingly restored, and provide a wonderful peaceful retreat for couples or families wanting to savour the delights of the New Forest. They are a superb example of clever architecture, with many windows to offer light and airy accommodation, and views over the beautiful gardens. The range of furnishings, soft and otherwise, have been carefully chosen by the owners, displaying their obvious flair for interior design. Sumptuous sofas, wood burners and oversize shower heads, create an almost ’boutique hotel’ ambience throughout, all complemented by personally chosen accessories and modern-day must haves. These lovely cottages score top marks for facilities and quality but also for location, tucked way along a track, yet only a 5-minute walk from the ever-popular village of Burley which has a variety of gift shops, the Cider Store, ice cream and tea rooms, pubs and eateries. There is also a bus stop for those that would like to explore without a car. Explore the New Forest National Park, where you can see the free-roaming ponies, donkeys and cattle, or enjoy golf and off-road walking, horse riding and cycling. The popular sailing town of Lymington is about a 20-minute drive, with ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, or meander along the cobbled streets with boutiques and eateries along the marina. The coastline with its beaches at Bournemouth and Poole is within easy reach, as is the city of Salisbury with its medieval cathedral. There are many places of interest for the family to visit, including Marwell Zoo, New Forest Wildlife Park, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Exbury Gardens to name but a few places of interest nearby. Further afield, but worth the trip, are Stonehenge, Monkey World, The Tank Museum near Wool and Southampton, with its maritime history and West Quay shopping centre. Explore the unspoilt countryside of Dorset or the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast from West Bay, Bridport and on to Weymouth, with its superb scenery and coastal walking. Spend a day at Lyme Regis with its harbour, renowned Cobb, beach and shops, and enjoy fossil hunting, boating, swimming and fishing. There are also many historic houses to visit, including Forde Abbey and Gardens. Beach 8 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 530 yards.Gardeners Retreat (ref UKC2168) and Keepers Cottage (ref UKC2169) can be booked together to accommodate up to 12 guests.
