Footman’s Cottage is full of character and charm with elegant features throughout. This beautiful cottage is ideal for couples or friends with stone walls, beams and a beautiful copper bath in one of the bedrooms, live in luxury for a few days! This Grade 1 listed building is one of six cottages on site all decorated and presented to a luxury standard throughout. The living space with large corner sofas offers plenty of comfort for 4 people and both bedrooms with French style beds are stylish and elegant. You can also enjoy the added luxury of complimentary toiletries and bath robes.

Part of the Shortflatt Estate, set amongst tranquil Northumbrian countryside. Nearby there are plenty of National Trust properties, including Belsay Hall, Kirkharle are lovely day trips. Walkers and cyclists will love the bridleways and footpaths which lead to Harnham and the Buddist Monastery. Those looking for some nightlife can easily travel into Newcastle or Ponteland for meals and drinks. Nearby Belsay and Whalton have lovely village pubs serving excellent food. A beautiful country park is nearby at Bolam Lake with lovely walks and grassed areas. Nearby coarse fishing permits can be obtained at Higham Lakes Fishery. The market town of Morpeth is a few miles with plenty of shops, pubs and cafés. The Heritage Coast is easily reached for day trips with miles of golden sandy beaches and historic castles.

    Really good cottage providing great comfort with superb beds, plenty of hot water and heat. Our overall assessment was that this property has only just become available and lacked some of the finer details to make it a perfect stay. Simple things would have prompted a 9/10 out of 10 rating such as, shelves in bathroom, serving mats to protect kitchen table, drinks mats to protect living room table, bigger bath towels, non slip mat in shower. Key improvement would be clearer instruction on how to locate the property and a sign post at the road entrance which is not clear. With simple things like that put right we would certainly use the property again.
