An ideal base for city or country, close to cycle tracks and walking paths and within easy reach of Durham city.

An ideal base for city or country, close to cycle tracks and walking paths and within easy reach of Durham city.

These two delightful holiday cottages (Refs MRA and MRB), each with its own history, are tastefully converted from former barns dating back to the 1600s. Retaining character and charm, they lie in a peaceful setting overlooking countryside with many cycle tracks nearby. Ideal walking and fishing country, yet close to famous attractions - visitors can step back in time at the Beamish Open Air Museum or visit the Metro Centre (a shopper’s paradise), Hexham (with its glorious abbey), Durham City (a city of contrasts, with its fine cathedral and designer shops), or the Northumberland coast, which are all within an hour’s drive. The medieval castle of Raby has a 200-acre deer park and is a firm favourite with visitors. An ideal location to explore all the surrounding AONB. Shop 500 yards.

Detached property. Large living room with gas ‘coal-effect’ fire in brick fireplace. Kitchen with breakfast area. Limestone floor throughout ground floor. First floor: Double bedroom with TV. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower attachment, toilet and tiled floor.

We had a wonderful stay. The Cottage is finished to a high spec, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. All the rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The Cottage was also lovely and warm! The only issues we had were reaching the windows and blinds upstairs as they are very low and we have joint issues. Also, Wi-Fi network was sporadic. Many local attractions within easy reach of the Cottage. Good location for visits to Beamish, Durham, Coast and Hadrian's Wall. (Loved Hexham!) Highly recommended.
