The Coach House is a spacious, detached barn conversion that has been thoughtfully designed and beautifully finished to give guests a fantastic stay. The Coach House, located in the pretty village of Cuxham, has kept many original features including exposed beams, exposed stone, brickwork and lovely windows. The open plan living, kitchen and dining area is very sociable and spacious. French doors lead onto the south west facing enclosed garden complete with flower beds, a patio and a good-sized lawn boasting beautiful views of Oxfordshire. This is a perfect getaway for all the family, including the dog, friends and couples wanting a relaxing stay, a sightseeing break or a walking and cycling holiday in a stunning part of Oxfordshire. The Coach House is situated on a working farm where they rear cattle and grow crops, with the friendly owners living in the farmhouse adjacent to the property. The owners occasionally host events on the farm including a Christmas market and shoots. The farmhouse has even featured in episodes of Midsomer Murders, along with the nearby ancient south Oxfordshire market town of Watlington.
The town of Watlington, which sits at the foot of the Chilterns, is steeped in history and offers many independent delicatessens and shops. The Chiltern countryside is waiting to be explored by foot or bike where you will be treated to magnificent views of the Thames Valley and South Oxfordshire. Approximately 1½ miles from Watlington is Watlington Hill, a National Trust chalk grassland site which is a fantastic area to spot red kites and butterflies including the silver-spotted skipper. For more wildlife watching, the Aston Rowant Nature Reserve is close by. For railway enthusiasts, take a visit to the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway, a 3½ mile stretch at the foot of the Chiltern Hills where steam and diesel-hauled trains operate.
There are many other nearby towns to visit including Dorchester, a pretty village with an abbey, Thame, a typical English market town, Wallingford, home of Agatha Christie, and Henley-on-Thames, a 12th-century market town made internationally famous for its rowing regatta. The historic university city of Oxford is within 15 miles. There is plenty more to do and see in the area including Greys Court (National Trust), Nuffield Place, Basildon Park, Harcourt Arboretum, the Earth Trust Centre, the Aston Martin Heritage Trust Museum and Wittenham Clumps, for stunning panoramic views of south Oxfordshire. Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant 550 yards.

The Coach House was lovely, beautifully decorated, spacious and had everything we needed for a relaxing week away. The owners were welcoming and it was lovely to have wine and cake (and milk) there for our arrival. My son was also very happy with the wifi (an essential for him).

We had a fantastic week at the Coach House. Really comfortable and well-designed & stylish accommodation, including a very well-equipped kitchen. Superb location with views over the fields (and cows, ducks, geese etc!). Pen was really helpful, friendly and welcoming. It was super to have an insight to a working farm, thanks to her & Frank. Great base for walking in the beautiful Chilterns countryside. Good food shops & pubs/restaurants nearby. Highly recommended.

We loved the cottage - it’s really stylish, comfortable and well equipped. The rooms are spacious and a pleasure to relax in. There are some thoughtful touches - fragrant hand wash, ground coffee, home made blueberry muffins, a delicious bottle of New Zealand white wine. These little details made us feel at home very quickly. Our two year old loved the farm surroundings with the cows, ducks, geese and tractors. The Half Moon pub is just a five minute stroll away and we had delicious pizzas there. The only things we would have appreciated would have been a slightly larger fridge/freezer and a washing machine - but nevertheless we managed and had a lovely time .

The Coach House was a wonderful place to stay. The furnishings and look of the cottage were first class and the location in the middle of a farm was very relaxing, the baby calves were simply adorable. The actual location was a great base for exploring the Chilterns - plenty of dog walks, gorgeous pubs and cafes for lunch all around. Pen was a lovely host too and very happy to show us all around the farm. Would love to book again and stay for longer.
