The Cowshed provides ample space for larger families and is well situated for a whole host of fun days out, sure to keep everyone entertained.

Newly renovated in 2019 this beautiful, Victorian, red brick barn is situated on the Romney Marsh Ridge, in the grounds of the owner’s farmhouse in a rural hamlet known as Court-at-Street, inbetween the villages of Lympne and Aldington. In a rural setting it is close to many beautiful beaches, Lympne Castle and the Port Lympne Animal Park. The barn benefits from a spacious garden area to the rear and at the front are uninterrupted views across the fields towards the North Downs. You can also enjoy these beautiful views from all of the bedrooms.

The large open plan living area loans itself to long lazy lunches or cosy dinners with the wood burner glowing, with friends and family – an ideal destination for all seasons. All bedrooms have beds and mattresses from Harrison Spinks, as supplied to Harrods. Aldington village once boasted a notorious gang of smugglers around 1820 who regularly landed contraband from Sandgate Castle to Rye and Deal. The ring leader was eventually captured and was then transported to Tasmania! The village now has a useful shop, pub and post office and the Point-to-Point Aldington races usually take place on Easter Monday. Bring bikes and cycle around the haunting Romney marshes, with just the sheep for company. Explore the shingle desert at Dungeness, climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse and stop for fish and chips on your way back home. The Romney Hythe and Dymchurch steam train also goes there.

Take a boat out on the Royal Military Canal at Hythe, build sand castles at St Mary’s Bay and Dymchurch or take a walk on the wild side and enjoy a safari adventure at Port Lympne Animal Park where you’ll spot the only giraffes in Kent. Enjoy an outdoor summer concert at Leeds Castle, bring your passport and take a ferry to France or take a trip on the Eurostar. Retail therapy can be enjoyed at McArthur Glen designer outlet centre where you’ll get a great bargain or venture to Canterbury with its large stores and boutiques, stunning cathedral and Canterbury Tales. Good rail connections also provide sightseeing opportunities in London. Whitstable, Margate and Broadstairs are all within a 45-minute drive. Beach 5½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1¾ miles.
