The Forge with its cosy interior and roaring wood burner is ideal for couples looking to explore Alderwasley and the Peak District National Park.

The Forge with its cosy interior and roaring wood burner is ideal for couples looking to explore Alderwasley and the Peak District National Park.

This carefully renovated forge is perfect for a break in the beautiful southern borders of the Peak District National Park. It is set within the wonderful rural countryside of Alderwasley, surrounded by a scattering of farms, a couple of local pubs and undisturbed views for miles. Fabulously converted, this cottage offers an open plan living space with a cosy wood burner, and wonderful views over the open countryside. Upstairs you will find a kingsize bedroom en-suite with a contemporary bathroom offering a walk-in shower and a bath to soak in after a busy day in the Peaks.
Alderwasley is a walker’s paradise, with footpaths right from the doorstep that lead directly to the towns of Belper and Wirksworth. Wirksworth is a small, charming market town on the edge of the White Peak, which is full of character and has many buildings of architectural interest, including its magnificent parish church. Guests will enjoy exploring the ancient courtyards, the National Stone Centre, and the array of restaurants, welcoming pubs and quirky shops. You will have great fun joining in on well dressing, an event that is unique to Derbyshire and takes place May to September each year. There is an annual arts festival that attracts international performers of every kind, and Wirksworth has its own tradition with a lively carnival.
There are lots on offer nearby including Carsington Water which offers cycling and sailing, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the famous Matlock. Matlock boasts a host of family attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham with its owl maze, water gardens and caves. Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is only a few miles away, and the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site in Cromford is definitely worth a visit. The Forge definitely makes for an ideal base for a fun-filled break, at any time of year. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

The Forge is by far the best property I have ever stayed in,everything is finished to a high standard with nice little touches like bathrobe, hairdryer, dog bowls, treats, towels and even dog tags in case your pooch wanders off.Owners have thought of everything and are very welcoming but by the same token leave you alone unless you need them. Lovely woodland walks on your doorstep worth exploring and lots to do nearby,Carsington Water,Cromford Mills,Matlock Bath,Wirksworth,Dovedale.......... Highly recommend a stay here and Jake  and I will definitely be back.
